가정폭력과 학교폭력 피해경험이 아동의 비행에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

이 연구는 Agnew의 일반긴장이론을 바탕으로 아동들이 과거에 경험한 가족으로부터의 폭력과 학교폭력이 긴장유발요인으로서 비행에 미치는 영향관계를이해하고 자아존중감이라는 내재적 긴장해소요인이 조절변수로서의 역할을 수행하는지 검증하고자 하였다. 독립변인으로는 방임, 신체적폭력, 언어폭력을 포함하는 가족으로부터의 폭력 피해경험과 정서적폭력, 폭력 및 갈취를 포함하는학교폭력 피해경험을 주요 변인으로 설정하였으며 기존의 선행연구와는 차별적으로 비행을 지위비행과 범죄행동으로 구분하여 종속변인으로 설정하였다. 이 연구는 한국형사정책연구원에서 조사한 ‘저소득층 아동의 범죄피해 실태조사, 2011’을 활용하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 가정폭력의 경우 신체적 폭력에 많이 노출된 아이가 지위비행을 더 많이 저지르는반면, 언어폭력에 더 노출된 아이일수록 범죄행동을 덜 저지르는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학교폭력의 경우 괴롭힘이나 따돌림과 같은 정서적 폭력에 자주노출될수록 범죄행동을 저지를 가능성이 높아지고, 폭행 및 갈취에 자주 노출되는 아이들은 범죄행동을 저지를 가능성이 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자아존중감은 조절변수로써 작용하였을 때 가정에서의 신체적 폭력 피해경험과의상호작용을 통해 지위비행을 감소시키는 완화효과가 발견되었지만, 가정에서의언어폭력 및 학교에서의 폭행ㆍ갈취 등의 경험과의 상호작용은 범죄행동을 강화하는 효과가 발생하는 것을 확인하였다. 이와 관련하여 정책적 함의를 논의하였다

영문 초록

Based on Agnew’s General Strain Theory, the present study attempted to examine the effect of domestic violence experiences and school violence experiences on youth’s delinquency and moderating effect of self-esteem. We constructed domestic violence experience and school violence experience as independent variable. Domestic violence experience included neglect, physical violence, and verbal violence. School violence experience included emotional violence, violence & extortion. As dependent variable, delinquency divided into status delinquency and crime delinquency, which distinguishes this study from preceding researches. We use ‘A Study on the Crime Damage of Low-income Children, 2011’ researched by Korean Institute of Criminology, which included 1650 samples, 675 of low-income students and 993 non low-income students in Seoul. The key results are as followings: First, as domestic violence, students who exposed much more in physical violence than other violence showed bigger effect size on status delinquency, meanwhile students who exposed much more in verbal violence than other violence negatively linked with crime delinquency. Second, as school violence, exposure level of emotional violence positively linked with crime delinquency, and exposure level of extortion & violence negatively linked with crime delinquency. Third, as a moderating variable, self-esteem showed mitigating effect of reducing status delinquency through interaction with physical violence in domestic violence. However, it showed confrontation effect that strengthening criminal delinquency through interaction with verbal violence in domestic violence and extortion & violence in school violence.
