국문 초록

이 연구는 TV드라마 속 다중인격의 등장인물에 나타난 ‘선택’의 스토 리텔링 양상을 밝히는데 그 목적이 있다. 이는 ‘선택’의 동시대적 위상및 해당 주체의 선택 특성을 파악함은 물론 최근 드라마의 스토리텔링을 이해하는 편린이 될 터이다. 21세기 들어, 인공지능, 빅데이터, 알고 리즘, 복잡계 등의 과학기술의 성장과 더불어 선택의 생태계는 급속하게 변하고 재개념화하고 있다. 다중-이질 주체의 선택, 기준에 따른 선택에서 선택 집적에 의한 기준이라는 기준-선택의 도치, 미래 시점의 선택,선택의 스토리텔링화 현상 등이 그것이다. 이러한 ‘선택’의 위상과 관련한 대중적 감수성은 TV드라마의 스토리텔링에서, 특히 다중주체의 주인공이 등장하는 드라마에서 보다 선명하게 다루어진다. 그리하여 높은 시청률과 한류드라마라는 위상, 대본집 출간 등으로 대중성 확보와 자료적 가치의 유의미한 성과를 보인 MBC의 <킬미힐미>와 SBS의 <괜찮아 사랑이야>를 연구의 대상으로 삼았다. 이들 드라마에 나타난 선택의 특징적 양상은 다음과 같다. 먼저, 다중 인격과 외부 인격으로 인한 장애를 겪는 남자주인공들의 탈중심적 선택의 특징이다. 그것은 정체성에 선행하는 선택 욕망으로서 선택 행위 자체의 원초성을 드러낸다. 주인공들의 선택 훼손을 통해, 선택 행위는 근원적으로 욕망에 바탕을 둔 것이며 불안정하고 비절대적이 어서 여기에 합리성을 명명하여 맹신하는 것은 허구임을 보여준다. 또한 다중인격에서 복수주체로의 이행 과정에 보이는 선택의 신비성이다. 복수주체는 실제 기술적으로 가능한 것이어서 이질감 없는 스토리텔링으 로서 선택 생태계의 반영이기도 하다. 이러한 탈중심적 선택은 여러 인격을 살고 싶은 충동과 불가항력적 구원의 사랑을 꿈꾸는 대중의 대리 만족으로서 시청률의 실질적 동인이자 자본주의 사회의 합리적 선택 이론 혹은 선택 조작에 대한 반기이기도 하다. 시청자(향유자)는 선택을 예측불가능하고 불가해한 창조적 영역의 무엇으로 남겨두는 데 공감한 다. 그러기에 그에 따른 선택에 대한 연민과 선택의 아름다움에 대한 지지를 보내는 것이다. 다음으로 남자 주인공들이 중심 인격을 되찾는 헤게모니적 선택의 특징은 이야기에 집중되어 있다. 구체적으로 이야기의 공여와 재현이다. 지속적 청자의 조력으로 다른 인격들이 자발적으로 사회적 인격에게 이야기를 공여하고 그 인격이 이야기를 총체적으로 파악함으로써 중심 인격은 헤게모니를 얻게 된다. 또한 이야기 들려주기와 교환이 있다. 주인 공이 시인하기 어려웠고 그래서 애써 외면하며 무의식으로 억눌러 부정했고 사회적 퍼소나로 포장하여 차마 입 밖에 내지 못했던 유년의 내밀한 이야기를 외부 인격에게 들려줌으로써 통합적 인격을 도모하게 된다. 이야기는 헤게모니 장악의 강력한 도구임을 재확인할 수 있다. 이야기를 활용할 때, 이야기 가치의 인정이 전제되어야 함은 물론이다. 주인공들은 각 인격들로 하여금 그들 이야기를 재현하게 하여 일종의 완결을 짓는 기회를 주는 한편, 중심 인격과 이야기 교환의 가능성을 언급해 줌으 로써 인정의 신뢰를 마련한다. 선택이 절대적 영향력을 넓혀가는 현실에 서, 시청자(향유자)는 선택의 방향을 이야기의 속성에 두는 데 동의하였 다. 총체성을 띠거나 지속가능한 이야기를 향해 선택을 하는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand the aspects of storytelling about ‘choice’ found in characters with multiple personality disorder appearing in TV dramas. This will be a part of not only figuring out the contemporary status of ‘choice’ and the characteristics of choosing of the subject but also understanding the aspects of storytelling in the latest TV dramas. In the 21st century, scientific technology including artificial intelligence, big data, algorithms, and complex systems is rapidly growing, and also, the ecosystem of choice is changing and becoming reconceptualized dramatically as well. The examples are the choice of multipleheterogeneous subjects, inversion of criteria-choices from choices based on criteria to criteria grounded on the accumulation of choices, a choice at the future point, and the phenomena of storytelling about choice, and so on. Such contemporary status of ‘choice’ is more clearly dealt with in the storytelling of TV dramas, particularly dramas where the main character with multiple subjects is appearing. Here, this author takes MBC’s and SBS’ as the objects of analysis as they attained high ratings and had scripts published to obtain popularity as well as significant fruition in terms of material value. The characteristic aspects of choice found in these dramas are summed up as below: First of all, the heroes suffering from multiple personality disorder and the persona tend to go with decentralized choice. This is the desire of choice preceding their own identity. It reveals the primitivity of the act of choosing itself. Also, it is the mystery of choice shown in the transition from multiple personality to multiple subjects. Such decentralized choice lets the people having an impulse to live through multiple personality and dreaming of uncontrollable love of salvation at the same time become satisfied vicariously. It is, in fact, the practical drive of ratings and also the rebellion against reasonable choice theory or manipulation of choice in capitalistic society. The viewers empathize with just leaving choice as something in creative area that is unpredictable or inconceivable. That is why they feel sympathy about the choice resulted from it and give support to the beauty of choice. Next, the characteristics of the heroes’ hegemonic choices to recover the main personality are found intensively in the story. Concretely, it is about the provision and reproduction of a story. With constant aid from the listener, other personalities provide a story to the social personality voluntarily, and the personality understands the story holistically, which allows the main personality to obtain its hegemony. Also, there are storytelling and exchanging. The main character talks about his secrete story in childhood that he has been reluctant to accept, trying to ignore, denying through unconscious suppression, and wrapping inside their social persona and unwilling to talk out to the outer personality in order to build up the integrated personality. Here, we can be again sure of the fact that the story is a powerful tool to seize hegemony. When the story is made use of, it is needed to done preferentially to recognize value of the story. While the main characters have each of the personalities reproduce their stories as a chance to come to an end, they mention the possibility of exchanging stories with the main personality, which builds up trust for recognition. In the reality that choice is broadening its absolute influence, viewers have agreed to place the direction of choice in the attributes of a story. It is either equipped with totality or towards the sustainable story. This study has again found that in TV dramas, ‘choice’ is the universal keyword that reflects individuals’ identity and social trends and also reveals the psychology of crowds while playing roles as a sight that attracts and collects the public choices and lets
