『갑오농민전쟁』 의 구성분석 -모더니즘적 기법을 중심으로

국문 초록

박태원(1910-1986)은 1926년『조선문단』에 시를 발표하며 문단에 등장한 이래 1986년 78세를 일기로 사망하기까지 중・단편, 장편, 시, 번역 등 영역을 가리지 않고 왕성한 창작활동을 한 작가이다.『갑오농민전쟁』2부가 출간된 1980년 이후 구술능력조차 상실한 것으로 알려져 있으므로 그의 창작기간은 54년에 달한다. 박태원은 활동 기간, 남. 북한이라는 이질적 공간을 아우르는 작품의 성격 등, 우리 문학사에서 보기 드문작가 중 한사람이다. 특히 “문체, 형식 같은 것에 있어서만도 가히 조선문학에 새로운 경지를 개척하였다 할 것”이라는 자부심에 찬 모더니스트 였던 박태원의 사회주의 리얼리즘 소설 『갑오농민전쟁』 은 모더니즘에서 리얼리즘 으로 나아간 박태원의 작가로서의 경로와 함께 우리 문학사의 변모를 밝혀줄 소중한 단초를 제공한다. 본고는 인물과 주제 면에서 판이한 월북 이전과 이후의 연계성을 찾을 수 있는 방편으로써의 서술 기법이라 판단하여 『갑오농민전쟁』의 구성을 살펴보았다. 분석 결과 『갑오농민전쟁』의 주제는 반외세, 반계급, 반봉건의 민족해방의 논리 등 북한 사회주의 리얼리즘을 벗어나지 않으나 장의 분절, 공간의 이동, 서술자와 초점화자의 구분 등 다양한 언술주체들의 활용, 등을 활용한 기법이 소설의 언어를 이중적으로 만들어 소설 내적 대화를 가능하게 하는 것을 확인하였다. 자체 완결적이지 않은, 열려있는 언어는 박태원의 언어의식이 북한 문예이론에 함몰되지 않았으며 모더니스트 박태원의 기법실험이 여전히 효과적으로 진행되고 있음을 보여준다 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Park Tae-won(1910-1986) is a writer who performed creative activities in all areas such as novellas, short stories, full-length novels, poems, and translations from the time he startedliterary career with poems published on The Joseon Literary Circles in 1926 to the time he died at the age of 78 in 1986. Since it is known that he lost even his oral statement ability since 1980, when part two the Gapoh Peasant War was published, his creation period amounts to 54 years. Park Tae-won is one of writers who could not be easily seen in our literary history in terms of the duration of his activities and the nature of his works that encompasses the heterogeneous spaces of South Korea and North Korea. In particular, Gapoh Peasant War, a socialist realism novel of Park Tae-won, who was a modernist full of the pride that “he pioneered new grounds in styles and forms too”, provide a precious cueto reveal the transformation of our history of literature along with Park Tae-won’s course as a writer, who went from modernism toward realism. Based on the judgment that the narrative technique used in the Gapoh Peasant War is a way to find the connectivity between Park Tae-won’s work before and after his defection to North Korea, which are completely different in terms of characters and themes, this paper examined the composition of the Gapoh Peasant War. From the results of the analysis, it was identified that although the theme of “Gapoh Peasant War” does not deviate from the North Korean socialist realism such as the division of chapters, movements of spaces, and the utilization of diverse subjects of discourse such as the distinction between the descriptor and the focus speaker dualized the language of the novel to enable internal dialogues in the novel. The open language that is not self-completecan be said to show that Park Tae-won’s language consciousness has not been absorbed in the North Korean literary theory, and modernist Park Taewon’s technique experiment is still effectively in progress.
