국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 2009개정 중·고등학교 과학과 교육과정에 제시된 글로벌 이슈 의 내용과 STEAM 교육요소를 살펴보고 과학교육에서 다루어야 하는 글로벌 이슈 교육내용의 개선방안을 제시하는 것이다. 교육과정에 제시된 글로벌 이슈 내용을 분 석하기 위해 국제기구 및 과학 연구기관에서 논의하고 있는 글로벌 이슈의 특징과 내용 등을 분석하여 분석준거를 개발하였다. 글로벌 이슈 내용의 STEAM 교육요소 는 Yakman(2008)의 STEAM 체계를 활용하였다. 연구결과, 2009개정 중·고등학교 과학과 교육과정에서의 글로벌 이슈 내용은 각 영역(단원)에서의 글로벌 이슈간 연계적 서술과 학생들에게 좀 더 다양한 글로벌 이 슈들이 다루어질 필요가 있었다. 이어서 각 영역별 통합수준을 살펴본 결과 중·고등 학교 과학과에 기술, 공학, 예술, 수학 내용요소를 보다 적극적으로 도입할 필요가 있었다. 이를 토대로 한 구체적인 개선 방안은 과학과 교육과정 목표에 글로벌 이슈 내용의 명시적 제시, 글로벌 이슈들이 유기적으로 연계되어 있을 경우 교육내용의 통합적 접근, 글로벌 이슈 해결을 구현할 수 있는 과학통합교육 프로그램 개발 연구 의 필요성 등으로 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the contents and STEAM educational factors of global issues presented in the 2009 revision of secondary school Science curriculum and to propose improvement plans related to instructional contents of global issues that need to be addressed in science education. In order to analyze the contents of global issues presented in the curriculum, were developed based on analysis of characteristics and contents of global issues discussed in related international organizations and science research institutions. Yakman’s STEAM framework(2008) was utilized for the analysis of STEAM educational factors in contents of global issues. According to the analysis, as for the contents of global issues in the 2009 revision of secondary school science curriculum, it is necessary to provide connected descriptions among difference global issues in each chapter(unit) and have student deal with more varied global issues. Subsequently, examining the level of integration in each area, analysis results indicated that contents in technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics, should to be introduced more actively in the secondary school science curriculum. Specific improvement plans that are proposed according to the analysis include the following: explicit presentation of global issues contents in the goals for science curriculum; integrated approach to instructional contents when global issues are organically connected; and the need for research on the development of science integrated educational programs that will solve global issues.
