과학교사 학습공동체에서 나타나는 초등교사의 PCK 변화 과정 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 다양한 지식, 경험, 배경을 지닌 구성원들이 수업 전문성 향상을 위한 과학교사 학습공동체를 통해 어떻게 교수내용지식(PCK)을 생성, 변화, 발전시 키는지를 관찰 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 과학교사 학습공동체 속에서 참여 구성원들 의 PCK는 다양한 방식으로 변화하고 발전하는 것으로 분석되었다. 참여한 교사들 은 활동 초기에는 자신의 오개념을 드러내기를 꺼려하거나 소극적 태도를 보였지만, 시간이 경과할수록 점차 드러난 자신의 오개념을 수정하기 위해 서로의 지식을 공 유하고, 의사소통을 함으로써 어떤 부분에서 비과학적이고 부족한 지를 토론하는 기 회를 가지기 시작하였다. 특히, 주로 저경력 교사들에게서 PCK의 변화가 많이 관찰 되었지만 고경력 교사 역시 저경력 교사들의 아이디어와 지식을 제공받아 PCK를 발달시킬 수 있었음을 볼 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 고경력 교사에서 저경력 교사로 향하는 일방향적인 멘토링과는 다르게 구성원 모두가 평등한 위치에서 협력적인 관 계를 유지하여 상호작용을 하는 것이 교사의 전문성 신장에 도움이 됨을 보여주었 다. 과학교사교육의 측면에서 교사 학습공동체의 교육적 시사점에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the change process of elementary science teachers’ pedagogical content knowledge through science teachers’ learning community, designed to improve their professional teaching ability and knowledge. For this study, 8 science teaching experts, who had a variety of teaching career, experience, science knowledge background, etc., were voluntarily participated in this professional learning community. And in this process, PCK changes were analyzed through qualitative research methods along with participant observation. The data analysis include that in the science teachers’ professional learning community, members continued to interact mutually to share own knowledge and experiences, changing PCK diversely. In terms of science content knowledge, they were found to understand educational curriculum, further sophisticate the idea of scientific ideas and try to find relationships between science and other subjects. To change wrong understanding of teachers, the members shared their knowledge and changed knowledge about scientific contents by evaluating others’ ideas or knowledge. In terms of teaching method and evaluation, they were found to realize the necessity of setting a study goal and discuss how to improve scientific thinking ability for a more scientific class. As for students’ understanding and class situation, knowledge changes were found in classroom situation and class contextual aspects such as class material arrangement and class time allocation. The educational implication to science teacher education were discussed.
