국문 초록

급변하는 우리 사회의 분위기와 구성원들의 의식 변화는 학교장면에까지 영향을 미쳐 교사로 하여금 보다 전문적이고 효과적인 학급관리 능력을 요구하게 되었다. 이 연구의 목적은 상담의 기법과 전략을 적용하여 효과적인 학급관리 전략을 모색하기 위함이다. 이를 위해 이 연구에서는 가르치는 것의 의미를 논의하면서 세 단계, 즉 적극적 예방, 일상적 문제행동 관리, 그리고 만성적 문제행동 관리로 나누어 순차적 접근방법을 제시하였다. 학생들의 만성적 문제행동을 조기에 관리할 수 없는 경우에는 학부모의 협조를 구하거나 외부 전문가에게 의뢰하는 방안들이 논의되었다. 학급관리를 효과적으로 하기 위해서는 수업전문가인 교사의 능력 발휘와 긍정적인 교실 학습 환경조성이 선행되어야 하고, 교사의 노력에도 불구하고 학생의 문제행동이 발생하는 경우, 비언어적ㆍ언어적 행동을 통한 개입방법이 논의되었다. 만일 학생들이 성인들과의 관계를 원만하게 유지하고 긍정적인 관계에 만족을 느끼게 된다면, 학교에 보다 더 관심을 갖고, 학습활동에 참여하며, 또래들과 교사들과도 긴밀한 상호작용을 한다는 기본 가정을 토대로 학급관리 전략을 구안하였다. 앞으로, 상담기법과 전략을 적용한 학급관리 전략의 효율성을 검증하기 위해 학교장면에서 실제로 적용해보는 경험적 연구가 뒤따라야 하겠다.

영문 초록

The rapidly changing societal atmosphere has made a significant impact on school settings in which elementary and secondary school teachers were to feel much pressure in managing their classrooms. The purpose of this study was to construct a model of an effective classroom management by applying counseling skills and strategies. For this purpose the present study discussed the meaning of professional teaching and proposed three levels of classroom management: proactive prevention of students\ misbehaviors in the classroom, managing the student\ s common misbehavior problems, and managing chronic behavior problems. The classroom management model constructed in this study was based on assumptions that if students consider their relationship with adults as positive and effective ones, they would be more concerned about their school, participate learning activities, interact with other peers and teachers closely. In case the student\ s chronic problem behaviors can not be managed appropriately, parental assistance was proposed and the ways of seeking outside professionals and were discussed. It is suggested that the teacher show his or her capability of professional teaching and constructing the facilitative classroom environment for effective classroom management. If the student\ s misbehavior problems were not resolved appropriately, nonverbal and verbal interventions were discussed as alternative intervention. In order to enhance the possibility of student\ s behavior change the teacher should examine and change his or her own behaviors. Further empirical research is needed to prove the effectiveness of this model.
