南軒學의 수용을 통해 본 寒岡學의 새로운 이해

국문 초록

寒岡 鄭逑는 한국유학사에서 매우 특별한 지위를 지닌 것으로 평가받는다. 바로 조선주자학의 거두인 퇴계학과 남명학의 적전이면서 실학의 연원에 위치하는 것으로 평가받기 때문이다. 그런데 한강의 논어학을 살펴보면, 주자학에 연원을 두고 있으면서도 남헌 장식의 영향이 뚜렷하게 확인되고있다. 일찍이 한강은 남헌이 편찬하였으나 일실된 洙泗言仁 을 복원하려는 의도에서 洙泗言仁錄 을 편찬하였다. 여기서 한강은 주자와 남헌의 인설을 동시에 인용하고 있다. 한편 한강은 퇴계 이래 중시되었던 정민정의 심경부주 를 비판하면서 心經發揮 를 편찬하였다. 여기서도 한강은 정민정이 심경부주 에서 아예 거론조차 하지 않았던 남헌의 설을 압도적으로 인용하고 있다. 특히 한강은 심경부주 의 내면에 치중한 설들의 일부를 제거하고, 이를 남헌의 실천을 지향하는 설로 대체하였다. 한강의 남헌에 대한 이러한 수용은 조선의 송대 도학수용사에서 매우 특기할 만한 것이다. 후대 실학으로 이어지는 한강학의 실천의 중시, 역사에 대한 관심, 경세적 성향 등은 바로 남헌학의 수용에서 비롯되었을 가능성이 농후하기 때문이다. 즉 한강학에 내재된 실학적 요소는 주자학(퇴계학)에 남헌학이 결부되어 형성된 것이라고 할 수 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

The history of Korean Confucianism gives Han Gang Jeong Gu a very special status. That is because he is evaluated as a legitimate successor of Toegye and Nam Myeong who are the magnates of the doctrine of Chu-tzu in the Chosun period and also as a key figure in the history of the Shilhak. However, if we look closely at Han Gang Jeong Gu’s study of the Analects of Confucius, it is clearly identified that he is influenced by Nam Heon Jang Sik although his philosophy is rooted in the doctrine of Chu-tzu. Han Gang compiled the SuSaEonInRok to restore the disappeared SuSaEonIn previously compiled by Nam Heon. In this book, Han Gang quoted theories of Chu-tzu and Nam Heon at the same time. Meanwhile, Han Gang compiled SimGyeongBalHwi while criticizing SimGyeongBuJu of Jeong Min-jeong which was highly regarded since Toegye. In this book, Han Gang quoted theories of Nam Heon overwhelmingly which Jeong Min-jeong did not mention at all in SimGyeongBuJu. Especially, Han Gang eliminated some of theories of SimGyeongBuJu that he paid attention to the inner world, and replaced it with practiceoriented theories of Nam Heon. Han gang’s such acceptance for Nam Heon’s theories is worthy of very special mention in an adoption history of Song Dynasty’s Confucian ethics during the Chosun period. It is because that emphasis on actions, concern for a history and the inclination for statecraft of the Han GangHak, which will lead to the Silhak later, is very likely started from this acceptance. In other words, it can be said that elements of the Silhak, inherent in the Han GangHak, are formed from adding the Nam HeonHak with the ToegyeHak.
