창의․인성 통합 초등 영어 수업 방안 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등영어과 수업에서 창의성과 인성을 통합한 수업 방안을 모색하고 이를 적용한 수업이 초등 학습자의 영어능력, 창의성, 인성에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 데에 목적을 두고 이루어졌다. 연구의 대상은 6학년 1개 학급 29명이었으며 2016년 5월 부터 7월까지 총 12주 동안 실험에 참여하였다. 실험을 통하여 수집된 자료는 영어성 적, 창의성, 인성의 사전 및 사후 결과, 사후 설문결과, 학생활동자료들이다. 연구 결과, 학생들의 영어성적, 창의성, 인성에서 통계적으로 유의미한 향상이 이루어졌으며, 구체 적인 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 창의성 요소로는 유창성, 융통성, 독창성에 있어서 유의미한 향상을 보였다. 둘째, 인성 요소 중에서는 배려 소통, 정직 용기, 시민성의 세요소에서 통계적으로 유의미한 향상을 보고, 거의 모든 인성요소들의 평균점수가 향상 되었다. 사후 설문 결과, 대부분의 학생들은 짝 활동이나 모둠활동을 하면서 영어에 대한 흥미가 높아졌고 적극적인 학습태도를 갖게 되었다는 응답을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 수업시간에 창의성과 인성을 통합한 영어지도의 가능성을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Creativity and character education have been emphasized since the 7 th national curriculum in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of this study is two fold. First, the study amis to develop a creativity and character integrated English instruction model for elementary students. Second, the study aims to investigate the effect of the instruction applied by the model in terms of English ability, creativity, and character of the students. Twenty-nine students participated in the study from May to July in 2016 for twelve weeks. Data include the results of pre-and post-test of English ability, creativity, and character. In addition, student-created learning materials and post-survey data were collected to examine the students’ learning process and perception of the learning experience. The results were statistically meaningful in terms of English ability, creativity, and character. The survey results also showed that the students’ interest towards English class increased and their attitude for English study became more positive. The results imply the strong possibility for the application of creativity and character integrated english instructions in elementary settings.
