이효석 일본어 단편소설 「土用竹」 연구

국문 초록

본 논문은 이효석의 미발굴 일본어 소설 「土用竹」을 소개함으로써 일제말기 작가의 내면을 재구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 기존 연구사에서 이효석의 ‘일본어 글쓰기’는 대일협력 문제의 회색 지대에 서 있어 ‘협력/저항’ 중 어느 위치에도 규정하기 어려웠다. 그러나 1940년 8월 『詩原』에 발표된 「土用竹」은 ‘탈이데올로기적 유미주의자’로 이해되어왔던 그간의 평가를 되짚어 볼 수 있게 해준다. 이 소설은 1937년 수양동우회 사건을 다룸으로써 식민지 조선의 지식인들에게 파시즘의 맹폭이 불어닥치는 상황을 보여준다. 소설 속 초점화자인 ‘주민주’는 아버지 ‘주석’이 동우회 사건으로 구치소에 갇히자 아버지를 구원하기 위해 노력한다. 이효석은 안창호를 ‘주석’의 모델로 설정함으로써 조선 지식인들에게 이루어지고 있는 사상 검열의 양상과 그들의 대응양상을 보여준다. 뿐만 아니라, 일제에 의해 동일하게 ‘국민’으로 호명된 ‘다카노’와 ‘김유신’의 위계를 드러냄으로써 내선일체 담론의 허구성을 드러낸다. 이효석은 파시즘의 맹폭 속에서도 지조를 지키려는 조선 지식인의 의지를 일본 문단과 독자들에게 전달하기 위해 동북아시아의 보편적 문화 코드들과 고사(古事) 등을 활용한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to recast the author s inside during the end of Japanese Colonial by introducing Lee, Hyo-seok s unknown novel 「土用竹」 written in Japanese. In existing research, Lee, Hyo-seok s ‘Japanese writing’ was in gray zone regarding the problem of cooperation toward Japan. Therefore, it is difficult to define that he is in the side of cooperation or resistance. However 「土用竹」 which was published on 『詩原』 in August of the year 1940 brings the necessity of reconsideration of evaluation on Lee, Hyo-seok who was considered as a de-ideological estheticist’ so far. This novel shows the situation of intellectuals in the Japanese colonial period running into the rise of fascism by handling the Suyangdonguhoe affair which was happened in 1937. The narrator in the novel, ‘Ju, Min-ju’ makes an effort to rescue his father ‘Ju, Seok’ when he was put in a detention center because the Suyangdonguhoe affair. Lee, Hyo-seok shows a complexion of ideology censorship done to intellectuals of Chosun and their response by setting the character ‘Ju-seok’ modeled after Ahn, Chang-ho. This novel reveal fabrication of discourse on Nae-sun-il-che’ by showing the existence of order of rank under the word ‘People’ of Japan through a complexion of the relationship between ‘Dakano’ and ‘Kim Yoo-sin’ who went to Keijo Imperial University with ‘Ju, Min-ju’. Lee, Hyo-seok used universal culture code and old story to express the will of intellectuals of Chosun who want to keep their prlnciple under the rising of fascism toward Japanese literary circle and readers.
