국문 초록

본고는 박태원에서 시작하여 최인훈을 거쳐 주인석에 이르는 ‘구보씨’ 표제소설에 대한 분석을 통해 각기 상이하게 나타나는 모더니티에 대한 탐색과 그 전략으로서의 고현학의 양상을 추적하는 것을 목표로 한다. 이들은 공통적으로 모더니티를 추구하지만, 그 모더니티의 ‘상’으로 설정된 것은 각각의 시대적 상황에 따라 다르게 나타나며, 따라서 모더니티를 탐색하는 방법론인 ‘고현학’ 역시 각기 변주되어 나타난다. 박태원은 소설가 구보씨의 일일 에서 식민지 근대성이 지닌 중첩성을 탐색하기 위해 서구 모더니티의 전범으로서의 제임스조이스와 왜곡된 식민지 모더니티의 사례로서의 윤백남과 최독견을 너머서려는 의지를 보여준다. 그 결과 박태원의 구보씨는 ‘신경쇠약’을 매개로 하여 최서해의 텍스트를 발견하며 이를 통해 식민지 근대의 고유한 특성을 형상화할 가능성을 찾는다. 최인훈은 소설가 구보씨의 일일 연작에서 스스로를 ‘남북조 시대의 소설 노동자’로 호명하며 1960-70년대 한국사회의 기형적 모더니티를 탐색한다. 최인훈의 구보씨는 망명한 단테를 형상화한 발자크의 텍스트를 통해 피난민으로서의 자기 인식에서 망명자로의 자기 인식으로 진전하는 계기를 찾으며, 기형적 모더니티를 ‘원근법’을 통해 관찰할 수 있는 위상을 모색하게 된다. 주인석은 「소설가 구보씨의 하루」 연작에서 ‘포스트’ 시대, 모더니티의 해방적 기획을 갱신하려는 미학적 모색을 보여준다. 주인석의 구보씨는 범람하는 포스트 담론은 물론 경화된 맑스레닌주의 문학에도 비판적인 인식을 보여주며, 이를 극복하기 위한 매개로 명징한 언어 대신 ‘음’만을 통해 의미를 전달하는 형식에 주목한다.

영문 초록

This research aimed at tracing the aspect of Modernology as the investigation and strategy on modernity which shows different characteristic respectively through the analysis on the title novel of ‘Mr. Gubo’, which reaches Ju, In-seok, beginning with Park, Tae-won. They pursue modernity in common, however the point that was selected as the ‘image’ of modernity appeared differently along with each period situation, accordingly, Modernology, the methodology to investigate modernity, also appeared various respectively. Park, Tae-won showed a will to surpass Yun baeknam and Choi dokgyeon as a case of James Joyce as the war criminal of western modernity and distorted colonial modernity, in order to investigate the overlapped characteristic of colonial modernity in his novel Novelist Gubo’s daily life. As the result, Park, Tae-won’s Gubo discovers Choi seohae’s text by a medium of ‘nervous breakdown’, through this, searches a possibility to embody the original characteristic of colonial modernity. Choi, In-hoon searches freakish modernity of Korean society in 1960s-70s, calling himself as a novel laborer of the period of south and north in his serial work Novelist Gubo’s daily life. Choi, In-hoon’s Gubo searches an opportunity to advance into the self consciousness of an exile from a refugee, searching for a status to observe the freakish modernity through perspective. Ju, In-seok shows an esthetic investigation to renew the ‘post’ era and the liberating planning of modernity in his serial work Novelist Gubo’s daily life. Ju, In-seok’s Mr. Gubo shows a critical awareness on stiffened Marx Leninism literature as well as overflowing post discussion, paying attention to a form to deliver the significance only through ‘tone’ as a medium to overcome this, instead of a clear language.
