李箕元이 기억한 李德懋

국문 초록

본고는 李箕元의 생애와 문학을 살펴보기 위해 李德懋와의 교유관계에 주목하였다. 이들의 교유 시기는 1791년쯤으로 추정되고, 교유경로에 있어 서는 이덕무를 만나기 전 이희경, 박종선, 박제가와 먼저 친분이 있었으므 로, 이들이 이기원과 이덕무의 교유에 가교적 역할을 했으리라 추정하였다. 이덕무를 대상으로 한 시는 이덕무 생전과 사후로 구분된다. 먼저 생전의 시에서는 이들의 교유가 사옹원에서 함께 관직생활을 하면서 시작하였고, 시회와 같은 모임을 통해 교유를 지속하였다는 것을 파악하였다. 또한 이들의 교유에 있어서 이기원이 적극적인 자세를 보였으며, 무엇보다 이덕무를 문장가로서 인정하며 존대하려는 이기원의 태도를 확인할 수 있었다. 사후의 시에서는 輓詩의 형식적 특징상 이덕무의 삶과 행적 등을 회고하고 있었 으며, 지기를 잃은 상실감을 직접적으로 표출하였다. 또한 夢見을 통해 구현된 작품들에서는 이덕무의 죽음 직후의 상실감이 여전히 유지되고 있으 며, 특히 꿈과 현실을 대비하여 자신의 심상을 구현하였다. 이를 통해 이기원이 이덕무와 같은 벗들을 통해 자신의 고심과 일생을 기록으로 보존하려는 태도와 이덕무가 이기원의 삶과 문학에 영향력을 행사 하였음을 알 수 있었다.

영문 초록

This paper pays attention to the relationship with Lee Deokmu in order to investigate about Lee Giwon s life and literature. Their period of association is estimated to be about 1791. Lee Giwon had associated with Lee Huigyeong, Park Jongseon and Park Jega earlier before he met Lee Deokmu. Therefore I presumed that these three people served as a medium of the relationship between Lee Giwon and Lee Deokmu. Lee Giwon s poems about Lee Deokmu are divided into poems during Lee Deokmu s lifetime and poems after his death. Firstly, in his poems written during Lee Deokmu s lifetime, I found out that their association started with their public services in Sa Ong Won and it was continued in poetry clubs. I also verified that Lee Giwon kept an active attitude toward the friendship with Lee Deokmu, which means that Lee Giwon acknowledged and respected Lee Deokmu as a good writer. Secondly, in his poems written after Lee Deokmu s death, Lee Giwon directly expressed his sense of loss about losing an appreciative friend and retrospected Lee Deokmu s life and achievements as typically shown in ManSi(an elegy). Also, his sense of loss was continued in his works which were embodied through MongGyeon(seeing Lee Deokmu in his dream). He particularly embodied his imageries by contrasting dreams and realities. Therefore it seems to be clear that Lee Giwon s life and literature were influenced by Lee Deokmu. Furthermore it is also right to conclude that Lee Giwon attempted to document his thoughts and life by associating some friends like Lee Deokmu.
