영문 초록

“The Nose(鼻)” is a short historical novel based on “Konjaku Monogatarishu”(今昔物語集, 本朝部巻卄八池尾禪珍內供鼻語第二十). Previous studies have asserted that the post - “The Nose” works by Akutagawa were mainly based on “Kouchu kokubun sousho(校註国文叢書)”. When “The Nose” was published, “Konjaku Monogatarishu” was mostly based on “tankakusousho(丹鶴叢書)”, where the notation “zenchinnaigu(禅珍内供)” appeared. As has been pointed out in past works, if it were true that Akutagawa used as a text “Kouchu kokubunsousho” (a series of “tankakusousho” or “shisekishuran(史籍集覧)” or “kokushitaikei(國史大系)” or “tanka kusousho”, the notation of “zenchinaigu(禅智内供)” in “The Nose” would be inexplicable. For Akutagawa, “Konjaku Monogatarishu” must have had a special meaning, as we can see from the fact that more than ten stories written by Akutagawa were based on “Konjaku Monogatarishu,” to which no due attention had been paid until the early modern period. Therefore, whilst his works were affected by a series of “tankakusousho,” it is quite likely that Akutagawa also made eference to “Kousho Konjaku Mono gatarishu(攷證今昔物語集),” a rather technical book expounding “Konjaku Monogatarishu.” Further, since the last volume of “Kousho Konjaku Monogatarishu” was not published at the time, it can be assumed that Akutagawa made reference to its original text, the one owned by Tokyo Imperial University(田中頼庸旧蔵本).
