식민지 근대의 타락한 욕망과 소설적 진실

국문 초록

본 논문은 이상 소설 ｢童骸｣에 나타난 ‘미적 형식’과 ‘욕망 기제’의 기능과 관계성을 분석하여 식민지 근대의 사회적 콘텍스트를 해석해냄으로써 이상 문학의 가치를 재고하는데 목적을 두었다. 이상 문학에서 나타난 알레고리 형식은 물신주의 사회의 훼손된 모습을 비판적으로 드러냄과 동시에 훼손된 대상의 진실에 접근할 수 없는 근원적인 상실감을 강박적으로 표현하고 있다. ｢童骸｣에서 아무리 탐색해도 현란한 번신술로 정체를 드러내지 않는 ‘姙’의 망가진 형상은 식민지 자본주의의 물신성을 뒤집어쓴 인간 존재의 상품적 성격과 가치 붕괴된 세계의 참담함을 동시에 나타내는 알레고리적 표현 기호라고 하겠다. 또한 ｢童骸｣의 서사를 움직이는 ‘모방된 욕망’의 심리 기제는 식민지 근대자본주의가 발생시킨 교환가치의 매개 현상이 소설의 구조로 치환된 것이다. 교환가치가 가상의 질을 진정한 가치로 위장하여 구매자의 자율성을 유린하듯이 타인에 의해서 부추겨진 매개된 욕망은 허구의 대상에 몸달게 하여 주인공의 인격과 주체성을 붕괴시킨다. 주인공의 욕망 구조는 그것이 자율적인 아니고 매개되어 있다는 점에서는 尹이나 姙의 욕망 구조와 동일하게 물화된 세계의 타락한 가치 구조를 모방하고 있지만, 결국 이러한 세계에서 그가 희생당함으로써 얻어지는 모순 인식을 통해서, 주인공은 자신을 파괴시킨 세계와는 다른 가치 체계에 속하는 존재임이 증명되고 동시에 훼손된 가치에 대해 진정한 가치를 묻는 소설적 진실이 얻어진다. 그런 의미에서 ｢童骸｣의 주인공이 나타내는 알레고리적 기호 형식과 매개된 욕망 구조는 개인의 심리적 콤플렉스와 연관된 부정적 모티프나 멜랑콜리적 증후의 계기들이 정교하게 암호화된 기표로서 기능하여 식민지 근대성으로 요약되는 모순된 사회 구조의 병리를 은유한 것이라고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

This thesis puts purpose the reconsideration of the value of Lee Sang s literature by analysing the function and relationship of the form of the mediated desire and allegorical sign form which show in the novel 「Dong-Hae」and by interpreting the social context of the colonized modernity. The allegorical form that appears in Lee Sang s literature reveals critically the figure of the broken world and expresses compulsively the original sense of loss which can t approach the truth of the broken object at the same time. The disfigured promiscuous woman which is found in 「Dong-Hae」is the allegorical expressive sign which denotes simultaneously the commercial personality of the human existence which is covered with the fetishism of the colony capitalism and the misery of the value-collapsed world. The psychological mechanism of the imitated desire that moves the narration of the 「Dong-Hae」does mimesis critically the intermediation phenomenon of the exchange value which the colonized modernity capitalism generates. In the respect of that the hero s desire structure is not autonomous but mediated, it imitates the value structure of the corrupt world such as the other character s desire structure. But the novelistic truth which asks the true value against the destroyed value gets through recognizing this discrepancy that occurs by his sacrifice in this world. Therefore the allegorical structure and mediated structure of the 「Dong-Hae」express the pathology of the contradictory social structure metaphorically, because the pessimistic motif or melancholic opportunity which is related with individual psychological complex functions as an encrypted symbol exquisitely.
