신문 헤드라인의 언어형식 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 신문 헤드라인을 언어형식의 특성에 따라 유형을 나누고, 각 유형별 헤드라인이 주는 효과에 대하여 분석을 시도한 것이다. 헤드라인의 언어형식은 어미결합형과 단어결합형으로 나누어진다. 이 연구로 얻어진 결과는 첫째, 명사형 헤드라인은 명사가 사실성을 높이는 언어기제로 작용하기 때문에 가장 높은 비중을 차지한다. 둘째, 종결형 헤드라인은 문장에서 서술 어와 같은 역할을 하는 어미가 결합한 헤드라인이기 때문에 매우 다양한 정보를 제공한다. 시제, 높임, 서술, 의문, 명령, 청유와 같은 문법범주를 어미를 통하여 실현하고 그것으로 헤드라인의 명제에 대한 의미를 다양하게 전달하는 효과를 누린다. 셋째, 연결형 헤드라인과 기타형 헤드라인은 모두 뉴스 수용자가 헤드라인의 명제에 대하여 추측을 하도록 하는 효과를 의도하는 것으로 분석되었는데, 어떤 성분이 생략된 것으로 판단할 수 있어서 뉴스 수용자가 그 성분을 추측하여 헤드라인을 해석해야 한다.

영문 초록

This paper tries to analyse effects each headline type has, after classifying newspaper headlines into types on the basis of their linguistic characteristics. The research materials are chosen from headlines of the Kyunghyang Shinmun and Naver News. linguistic forms of headlines are divided into the linked ending type that is finished up with connective or final endings and the linked word type completed with words such as nouns, prepositions, adverbs, and root words. The findings are as follows. First, noun headlines are higher in both the Kyunghyang Shinmun and Naver News as nouns function as a linguistic mechanism to make us focus on factuality. Second, headlines of final endings provide ample information from various sources because they as linked endings play a predicative role in sentences. Grammar categories including tense, honorific, predication, interrogation, imperative, and requesting forms are implemented through endings and by doing so, headline propositions are diversely delivered. Third, connective and other endings are analysed as written with the intention of making news audience speculate headline propositions. As connective and other headlines might be judged as some parts are omitted, readers guess the contents and then interpret the headlines.
