조운과 탁상수 비교 연구

국문 초록

이 논문은 1920년대에 각각 전남 영광 지역과 경남 통영 지역에서 사회운동에 적극적으로 참여하는 동시에 현대시조시인으로서의 정체성과 지위를 확립해갔던 조운과 탁상수의 사회활동과 시조 창작을 비교 고찰하고 있는 연구이다. 1920년대의 시조는 흔히 계급문학에 대립되는 우파민족주의의 문학으로 규정되곤 한다. 그러나 조운과 탁상수는 당대 사회주의 성향의 지역 청년단체에서 주요인물로서 활동하는 동시에 시조를 창작함으로써, 1920년대 좌파 민족주의 시조의 가능성을 검토하게 하는 시인들이다. 곧 그러한 측면에서 그들의 시조는 1920년대 시조 문학에 대한 기존의 규정을 재고할 수 있게 하는 지점을 마련해주고 있다. 한편 그들은 사회의식을 시조에 담아내는 차원에서는 차이를 드러내기도 하였다. 조운이 민중의 일상에 대한 관심을 시조 전반에 드러냈다면, 탁상수는 일부의 시조에서 사회현실에 대한 비판의 목소리 직접적으로 표출했다. 이 논문에서는 그러한 그들의 사회활동과 시조 창작을 비교하여 분석함으로써 1920년대 시조 담론의 지형을 재인식해보고자 하고 있다.

영문 초록

This thesis aims at examining and comparing Jo Un’s and Tak Sang-su’s social activities and Sijo writing, who participated in social movements respectively in Yeongkwang, Jeolanamdo, and Tongyeong, Gyeongsangnamdo, and simultaneously, established their identity and status as modern Sijo poets in 1920s. Sijo in 1920s is usually defined as right-wing, nationalistic literature in confrontation with proletarian literature. However, Jo Un and Tak Sang-su worked as main figures in local youth organizations with socialist inclination and, at the same time, wrote Sijo poems, and therefore make us reconsider the stereotype. On the other hand, they displayed differences in how to express their social consciousness through their Sijo poems. While Jo Un expressed his interest in the daily life of the people in his Sijo poems in general, Tak Sang-su directly made his critical voice heard regarding the reality of the society in some of his Sijo poems. In this paper, those social activities and Sijo writing of theirs were compared and analyzed to have a new understanding of the features of Sijo discourse in 1920s.
