구술문화의 갈래 재발견과 축제성 재인식

국문 초록

구술문화는 구어문화와 구비문학의 범주를 넘어서는 입소리 문화이다. 아기와 엄마 사이에 나누는 옹알이를 비롯하여 휘파람, 웃음과 울음, 감탄과 비명, 돋움소리, 추임새 등 입으로 표현하는 소리 문화 전반을 일컫는다. 그러나 축제성을 지닌 것은 상대적으로 한정된다. 축제성을 발견하기 어려운 휘파람과 비명, 울음은 제외하고, 가) 말에 미치지 못하는 옹알이, 나)말의 한계를 초월한 웃음, 다) 말의 의미를 압축한 감탄, 라) 말의 의미를 역동화한 돋움소리, 마) 공연의 기능을 강화하는 추임새, 바) 노래의 공유를 구조화한 민요, 사)말과 무관한 악기소리의 입장단 등을 주목할 수 있다. 옹알이는 아기와 부모 사이에 나누는 난장형 축제성을 지녔는데, 엄마와 아빠의 호칭을 터득하는 과정은 기존 축제에서 발견할 수 없는 전도형 축제성을 발휘하게 된다. 웃음은 인간해방의 대동적 축제성을 지녔으며, 감탄의 소리와 돋움소리는 집단적 신명풀이의 축제성을 지녔다. 추임새와 민요, 입장단 등도 집단적 신명을 강화하는 다양한 축제적 기능을 발휘한다. 옹알이와 웃음 등의 진정한 구술문화는 문자문화로 대신할 수 없을 뿐 아니라 문자문화의 전단계로 볼 수 없는 독자적 문화이다. 따라서 구술문화를 문자문화와 대립관계나 선후관계로 포착하게 되면 구술문화의 폭을 제대로 포착할 수 없고 그 본질적 의미와 기능도 해석할 수 없다. 그러므로 구술문화를 재발견하기 위해서는 휘파람에서 콧노래, 울음소리까지 입으로 표현하는 모든 소리문화를 적극적으로 주목할 필요가 있다. 축제는 공동체 단위의 지역축제여서 수시로 개최 불가능하므로 일년에 한 차례만 가능한 세시풍속으로 존재한다. 그러한 축제마저 전승이 중단되었거나, 최근에 만들어진 이벤트가 고작이다. 그러나 구술문화의 축제성은 두 사람 이상이 모이면 언제든지 가능한 일상문화 속에서 실현된다. 인간해방의 사회를 만들어가려면 구술문화의 축제성처럼 축제의 일상화가 바람직하다. 그러므로 일상생활에서 누리는 진정한 축제문화로서 구술문화를 재인식할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

Oral culture is oral sound culture that beyond the category of spoken culture and oral literature. This includes overall sound culture that sounds via verbal way such as babbling between mother and baby, whistling, laugh and cry, admiration and scream, the sound of wild cheering and Rejoinder. However, that oral culture that contains festivity is relatively limited. Exception of whistling, scream and crying which are hardly identify, 1) abbling that is not reached to verbal language. 2) smile that is transcendent the limit of verbal language, 3) dmiration that condense the meaning of verbal language 4) the sound of wild cheering that is being dynamic for the meaning of vernal language, 5) structured folk song that shares singing, 6)sounds of musical instrument for entrance which is not relative with verbal language can be focused. Babbling has a characteristic of communitas festivity in between parents and baby, the progress of understanding the meaning of mother and father contains a charateristic of reversed festivity that cannot be found in existing festivity. Laughing contains united festivity of human liberation and sounds of admiration and the sound of wild cheering have festivity of collective explanation of spirit. Rejoinder, folk song and entrance song have various function of reinforcement for collective spiritual. The true oral culture such as Babbling and laughing cannot be replaced with written culture and it is independent culture that should not considered as prior stage of written culture. Therefore, if oral culture is considered as opposite or sequence of relations, it may narrow the understanding of oral culture and interrupt fundamental meaning and functions. Therefore, to rediscover oral culture, it is necessary to focus on every sound cultures including from whistling to crying that is expressed verbally. Since festivity which is local festivity for the community, it is impossible to be held occasionally. It is held once a year with possible seasonal customs. However, even these festivities stopped transmitting and only recent event is exist. However, festivity of oral culture can be held at any time with member of at least 2 people in normal possible culture. Daily festivity will be recommended like festivity of oral culture to build human liberated society. Thus, it is necessary to re understand oral culture as a true festival culture in normal life.
