영문 초록

Current society in the 21st century is rapidly transformed. Regional Planning always reflects the transformation of society. The purpose of this paper is to find out some strategies of regional planning toward the 21st century, in relation with the transformation of society. In order to accomplish this purpose, four topics are discussed. The first topic finds out such issues as globalization, localization, information, and environmental conservation identified from the transformation of society. The second topic examines the concepts and effects of each issue in relation to regional planning. The third topic discusses various strategies needed to cope with those issues. The fourth topic suggests the policy implication of those issues discussed above. In conclusion, the existing regional planning requires to shift its concept to a new one and needs to accommodate those issues mentioned above, in order to be more effective.
