영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to suggest policy direction for the disabled people in the related laws, in the viewpoint of the facilities and pedestrian environments that electric wheelchair users met in their daily lives. Forty eight electric wheelchair users residing in Cheongju city answered the questionnaire. The entrances, parking areas, toilets and the elevators in the social welfare facilities, wholesale stores, offices, and sidewalks in 'Seongan-gil' were checked for their compliance with the 'Space Standard Checklist of the Disabled People'. The major findings were as follows: 1) The places most visited were offices, banks, supermarkets, and convenience stores, and the disabled people mainly used electric wheelchair for the locations in less than 15 minute of moving distance. 2) The inconveniences answered by the disabled people were lack of roofs in parking lots, narrow elevators, highly located elevator buttons, narrow slope widths, small space of toilets, and hinged doors. 3) The electric wheelchair users faced more inconveniences when they traveled between the sites than they were inside the facilities.
