반다이크 사정을 활용한 중도 뇌성마비 아동의 의사소통 특성 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 반다이크 사정을 활용한 중도 뇌성마비 아동의 의사소통 특성을 알아보기 위한 것이었다. 특히 뇌성마비 유형에 따른 의사소통 특성을 살펴보았고, 반다이크 사정을 실시한 담임교사를 대상으로 반다이크 사정의 사회적 타당도를 알아보았다. 연구에는 만 8세 이하의 중도 뇌성마비 아동 6명과 해당 담임교사 6명이 참여하였다. 그 결과 여러 가지 흥미로운 연구결과들이 발견되었다. 첫째, 중도 뇌성마비 아동은 의사소통 양식으로써 얼굴표정을 가장 많은 빈도로 사용하고 있었다. 둘째, 중도 뇌성마비 아동은 다른 의사소통 양식으로써 발성, 머리움직임, 시선응시를 사용할 수 있었다. 셋째, 중도 뇌성마비 아동은 대화 상대자 입장에서 의미를 가진 의사소통 양식을 최소 1가지 이상 사용할 수 있었다. 그 외의 연구결과로는 우선 중도 뇌성마비 아동은 일관적이지 않더라도 선택을 위하여 의사소통 양식을 사용할 수 있었다. 그리고 중도 뇌성마비 아동은 청각을 통한 의사소통에 강점을 가지고 있으며, 음악 소리나 악기 소리와 관련된 물건이나 활동에 주로 참여하고 있었다. 또한 중도 뇌성마비 아동은 상징적 의사소통에 어려움을 가지고 있으나, 친근한 사람과 친근하지 않은 사람에게 다른 반응을 보일 수 있었다. 반다이크 사정을 사용한 교사들은 반다이크 사정이 어느 정도 현장 적용가능성이 있다고 인식하는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of the study was to identify general communication characteristics of children with severe cerebral palsy using van Dijk assessment which was a well-known child-guided assessment tool. The study specifically dealt with how they communicate with others depending on the type of cerebral palsy they had and their gender. The social validity check on the van Dijk assessment was also conducted with the participating teachers. used. A total of 6 students with cerebral palsy and 6 teachers who were in charge on teaching the students were participated. Several interesting results were founded. First, the students were found to be using facial expression most frequently as a form of communication. Second, they were able to use other forms of communication such as vocalization, head movement, or gazing, not used frequently as facial expression did though. Third, they were able to use at least one form of communication mode that made probable meaning to their communication partner. Some other findings were as follow: the children were able to use a few forms of communication to make choices, albeit inconsistently. They were competent in auditory communication and often engaged in the objects or activities relating to the sound of music or musical instruments. Further they were able to distinguish people who were close to them from others who were not even though they had difficulty in managing symbolic communication. The teachers responded that van Dijk assessment was a rather useful tool to be applied in the field. Discussion on the findings were described.
