『마음』 번역의 문제점

영문 초록

The work 『Kokoro』, the most favorite novel by Japanese was written by Sosaeki at the age of forty eight. There are also difficulties of archaic style in his work contained the erudite author's experiences and many problems the culture of language, one hundred year ago, involves in translating this work into Korean. If that is the case, how well were the Korean versions of 『Heart』translated by overcoming difficulties in Korea? I have found several problems as a analysis of seven books which were translated Japanese into Korean. There are many cases such as mistranslated 'reason(道理)で', which means 'somehow or other' into 'reason(道理)', 'controling desires(摂慾)', which means 'moderate desires', in that case, 'controling desires' was mistranslated into 'hypocritical desire(徦慾)', 'appetite(食慾)', 'desires of ingestion(攝取)', 'new year(春)' was mistranslated into 'spring', 'decisive action with firmness of character and courage'(果敢ない), which means 'feebleness', was mistranslated into 'being in vain, useless, and hopeless', 「meyauni,~のやうに」, which means 'being different' was mistranslated into 'as or like', 'Keeping consistency(鷹揚) and patience(我慢)' was mistranslated into 'inconsistency'. As pointed out above, there's no discretionary Korean versions. To the limit of space, I can point out so many errors of translation, and a separate volume can be not enough to publish. That' why there will be many errors and mistranslation according to translator's insufficient ability of grasping the meaning from the context. Most readers, who can not read the original work, read the book, 『Heart』, only believing translators. This thesis proves that Korean readers read 『Heart』, the version of translation which was mistranslated misapprehending the meaning as a translator. 『こころ』(1914年)は日本を代表する作家夏目漱石の代表作であり、日本人にもっとも好まれる小說の一つである。百年も前の作品であり、博学多識な作家の年輪がもられていて、翻訳に隘路が多い。ではわが国に出されている『こころ』の翻訳本はそのような難しさをどれほど乗りきった翻訳になっているだろうか。わが国で出版されている『こころ』の翻譯書七冊を對象にし、翻譯の内容を比較分析してみた。その結果、たくさんの問題点が見えてきた。'어쩐지'を意味する「道理で」を'도리'と誤訳したり、'절욕'を意味する「摂慾」を'섭욕ㆍ식욕ㆍ섭취욕'と誤訳したり、'새해'と翻訳すべき「春」を'봄'と誤訳したり、'가냘픈'と翻訳すべき「果敢ない」を'헛되다ㆍ부질없다ㆍ속절없다'と誤訳したり、'∼와/과 달리'と翻訳すべき「~のやうに」を'∼와/과 같이'または'∼처럼'と誤訳している。また一貫性を保つべきところの「鷹揚、我慢」の翻訳に一貫性が見えない。紙面さえ許されるなら、誤謬や誤訳はいくらでも指摘できる。誤謬や誤訳の多い一番の原因はやはり翻訳者の文脈の把握能力の不足である。 原文を見ることのできない多くの読者は翻訳者を信じて『こころ』という作品を読む。この論文は、わが国の『こころ』の読者は、翻訳者のよく理解できなかった翻訳書を読んでいるということを立証したという意味を持つことになった。また『こころ』という作品を正しく理解するのに役立てたと思う。
