공자의 단비교육법 연구

국문 초록

현재 우리나라의 교육기관에서 주로 사용하고 있는 주입식 교육은 한꺼번에 다수의 학생에게 동일한 내용을 빨리 전달할 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있지만, 많은 문제점도 가지고 있다. 특히 학습의 강요, 획일적인 내용 암기, 자기주도학습 능력이나 창의력의 퇴화, 수준별 학습이 불가능한 것 등의 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이는 결국 학생의 인격을 무시하고, 나아가 사교육을 동원하여 교육성과를 조장하게 만든다. 공자의 단비[時雨]교육법은 '개인별 맞춤교육'으로서 이러한 문제를 해결할 수 있는 교육방법이다. 단비교육법의 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 선유지학(善誘志學), 즉 학습자를 잘 유인하여 자발적으로 배우고자 하는 의지를 갖도록 최대한 노력한다. 이는 교육자 중심이 아닌 학습자 중심 교육이다. 둘째, 학습동기가 유발되어 배우고자 하는 학생이 있을 경우, 재성ㆍ보상(財成輔相), 즉 학생의 수준에 맞추어 단계를 나누고, 그 재능이나 학습내용에 맞는 교육과정을 새로 만들어 교육한다. 셋째, 대시계발(待時啓發), 즉 학습자의 수준이 향상하기를 기다려 계발한다. 이는 다시 둘로 나눌 수 있는데, 하나는 단계별로 나눈 과정을 건너뛰지[躐等] 않고 차례대로 나아가게 하는 것이고, 다른 하나는 학습자가 일정한 기준에 스스로 도달할 때까지 기다리는 것이다. 넷째, 인재시교(因材施敎), 즉 학습자가 배우고자 하는 내용이나 재능에 맞추어 가르친다. 이 역시 둘로 나눌 수 있는데, 하나는 학습자의 단점을 보완하고 장점을 기르는 것이고, 다른 하나는 학습자의 성격이나 성향에 맞게 가르치는 것이다. 다섯째, 대문해혹(待問解惑) 즉, 묻기를 기다려서 그 궁금증을 풀어준다. 이렇게 하면 교육의 시의성과 내용의 적절성을 확보할 수 있다. 아울러 학습자의 질문 수준에 맞추어 교육과정과 교육수준 등을 조정한다. 단비교육에서는 교육자가 더 많은 노력을 기울여야 한다. 학습자가 어떤 질문을 할지 모르기 때문에 더 많은 준비를 미리 해두어야 하고, 학습자의 상황에 따라 개인별 맞춤교육을 해야 하기 때문에 더 많은 수법을 가지고 있어야 한다.

영문 초록

Cramming method of teaching, which is ruling over in our public education system, also has a lot of problems, but it has such advantages for knowledge delivery in quickness and large quantities. Many people point out this method has several defects such as compulsory learning, uniform memorizing education, regression in self regulated competency and creativity, especially in the individualization of the learning process. Cramming method brings a lot of problems like disregard of the students' personal rights and instigation of private education. Those problems can be solved by the Confucius' education system, Danbi(timely rain) teaching method. The following are several characteristics in the teaching method. First of all, this method tries to draw the spontaneousness of the learner through the excitements of motivating process for learning. That is to say, it is not teacher-centered education but learner-centered teaching method. Second, though the learning motivation process if there are learners who are anxious for learning, just then teaching is done according to the levels and capacities of them. So the learning contents may vary depending on level of the learners. Third, the teacher waits for a ripe opportunity until the learners are fit for the tasks. However if we were to talk about this in more detail, it could be divided into two kinds of methods. One is step-by-step process and the other is waiting for the time when the learners are fit for the tasks of levels by themselves. Forth, teachers teach the very contents which learners are willing to learn. This way of teaching is also divided into two kinds method. One is filling up a lacuna in their knowledge and the other is educating the learners according to their natures or tendencies. Fifth, during the educating, question and answer methods are used for the learner's developmental stages and the contents fit for them. Those concerns can be fulfilled easily if the teachers taught according to the level of the contents, learners inquired into. In other words, the teachers fix their level and course of education according to their questioning levels. In the Danbi teaching method, the teachers have to much more efforts as compare with cramming method of teaching. Because the teachers have to prepare for the any other questions of learners and to take much more means for the diversities of learners, such and such different, need to have one-to-one customized education.
