영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to compare the effects of teacher model reading and audio modeling on elementary school students' reading prosody. For the research, 106 students in the 5th grade of an elementary school in Kyung-gi Province were sampled as participants. Students were divided into two groups: Group 1 received teacher model reading instruction, and group 2 received audio modeling instruction. An experiment was implemented during an 8-week period. After the experiment was conducted, a post-test was given to assess the students' reading with prosody and reading comprehension skills. A t-test was utilized to make a statistical analysis of the collected data. The findings of the study showed that the teacher model reading group was shown to bring significant improvement in reading with prosody such as stress, intonation, pause, etc. compared to audio use. It can be interpreted that the teacher's appropriate modeling of reading prosody was beneficial to increasing their reading parsing skill, expression and along with understanding. And it means that their reading prosody skills were improved because of frequent exposure opportunities to the teacher's proper modelling. Based on the results of the study, some ideas for fluency instruction were suggested.
