교통수단에 따른 내국인 해외관광수요 결정요인 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 2001년부터 2008년까지 분기별 데이터를 이용하여, 내국인 해외관광수요를 대상으로 항공이용 출국자와 선박이용 출국자를 종속변수로 하였으며, 설명변수로 환율을 이용하여 수요에 미치는 영향력에 대하여 분석하였다. 그리고 분기별 계절더미변수와 2001년에 있었던 미국 9ㆍ11사건, 2002년 한ㆍ일 월드컵 기간 더미, 2003년 2/4분기 발생한 SARS기간 더미변수, 2008년 국제금융위기기간 등과 같은 내국인 해외관광수요에 영향을 줄 수 있는 국제적인 사건들을 더미변수로 연구모형에 포함하였다. 시계열 자료에서 나타나는 자료의 안정성 검정을 위하여 단위근 검정과 자료의 장기적 균형관계를 검증하기 위하여 Johansen 공적분 검정을 실시하여 OLS추정의 정당성을 밝혔다. OLS 추정결과 선행연구를 통하여 내국인 해외관광수요에 가장 유의한 변수로 알려진 소득변수는 유의하지 않았으며, 다만 환율변수가 가장 비중이 높다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 내국인 해외관광수요는 계절에 따라 수요가 달라짐을 알 수 있었다. 경제외적인 변수가 수요에 미치는 영향을 살펴본 결과 SARS의 경우 모든 수요에 동일한 영향을 미친 것으로 추정되었으나, 다른 경제외적 사건들이 수요에 미치는 영향은 서로 다른 것으로 나타났다. 특히 소득변수가 유의하지 않게 추정된 결과는 본 연구의 표본기간에 따른 결과로 생각하며, 추후 보완된 연구가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

영문 초록

This study employs new methodology in the research on the airline and ship outbound tourism demand for the domestic people, particularly focusing on how differently the outbound travel demand is affected by the altering choice of transportation. Rather than relying on the variables that are used in the previous studies, we use gross national income(GNI), and also, we include foreign dummy variables such as SARS, September ll attack; 2002 world-cup, in order to control their effect on the demand for outbound tourism, in addition to the seasonal dummy variables. When the presence of unit root is examined for the non-stationarity of the time-series data, the variables under consideration are all shown to follow integrated order one i.e. I(1). Then we find that the co-integration problem persists significantly among the variables within the data. So, we employ the Augmented Dickey-Fuller(ADF) test and Philips Perron(PP)test regression method to remove the effect of co-integration. When the OLS test is completed controlling the co-integration problem, we find, in the long run equilibrium, the significant and substantial effect (of) exchange rate on the outbound demand among the explanatory variables. Of interest lies in the finding tint the effect of SARS is ubiquitously significant on the demand regardless of the types of transportation, whereas the dummy variables other than SARS such as September 11th attack, 2002 World Cup, show (ad hoc) effect on the demand differently depending upon the types of transportation. In particular, the effect of income on the demand turns out to be not significant contrary to the conventional notion. This outcome may be due to the specificity of sample period under consideration. Thus, we believe this outcome should not be the end of research, rather the start of further research.
