북한의 고조선 교육과 ‘김일성민족’의 단군

국문 초록

이 글은 1993년 이후 북한 역사교과서의 고조선 서술과 그 배경을 살펴본 것이다. 1993년 단군릉 발견 이후 북한학계에서는 단군의 실재를 전제로 고조선사를 연구하였는데, 이는 역사교과서 서술에도 반영되었다. 각종 신화와 전설에 기초해 단군의 생애와 활동을 구체적으로 서술하였고, 이른바 재야서사를 통해 3천년의 왕조사 체계를 제시하였다. 이와 같은 북한의 역사교과서 서술은 1970년대 이후 민족주의가 강화된 추이 속에서 이해된다. 다만 단군릉 발견 이후부터는 단일혈통이 한층 강조된 점이 특징적이다. 단일혈통의 민족은 심지어 인류의 기원으로까지 소급되었다. 이때 단군은 초역사적 민족을 역사적 실재로 전환시키는 매개고리였다. 이와 같은 북한의 고조선사 연구와 교육은 김일성 김정일의 영도에 의한 것으로, 사회주의 체제의 위기 속에서 정권을 유지하기 위한 목적성이 강하였다. 나아가 1990년대 중반 이후 북한에서는 ‘김일성민족’을 내세워 민족과 국가를 일치시키고, 그 중심에 지도자를 두었는데, 단군릉은 이러한 과정에서 발견되었다. 따라서 최근 단군에 대한 강조는 ‘김일성민족’을 위한 것으로, 민족주의를 독점하기 위한 정치적 기획이었다고 이해된다

영문 초록

The study set out to investigate the description and background of Old Joseon, which have been introduced in the history textbook of North Korea since 1993. Studies on Old Joseon history had showed dramatically changed aspects due to several motives in North Korea after liberation, and one of the important motives was to discover Dangun Mausoleum in 1993. From then, studies on the history of Old Joseon were carried out under the premise that there was Dangun in reality. The textbook of North Korea included the fact. In the history textbook of North Korea, Dangun's lifetime and achievement were described in detail based on various myths and legends, and the dynastic history of three thousands years was introduced through non-political description. Like the above, the history textbook of North Korea described history toward changed contents because nationalism had been reinforced since the 1970s, and 'one-blood nation' had been emphasized more and more since the discovery of Dangun Mausoleum. The Korean race traced its origins back to even the origin of humankind. Super-historical race was changed to the actual race of history by Dangun. Those studies and education were performed by the leadership of Kim Il-sun and Kim Jong-il, in order to keep their dictatorial government when their regime was facing a crisis. Furthermore, while race had been united with nation under the name of 'Kim Il-sung Minjok' since the mid-1990s, it was focused on leader and Dangun Mausoleum was discovered. Dangun was emphasized for 'Kim Il-sung Minjok' as the political scheme to monopolize nationalism.
