아시아대학 순위 평가(THEAUR)에 영향을 미치는 평가준거 및 주요국 비교 분석

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 Times Higher Education의 아시아대학 순위 평가의 평가준거들이 총점에 주는 영향력, 아시아대학과 세계대학 간의 차이, 아시아대학 순위 평가에서 주요 7개국의 평가 결과 등을 분석하는 것이다. 위계적 회귀분석으로 평가준거가 총점에 주는 영향력을 분석하였고, t검증으로 아시아대학과 세계대학 순위 평가 간의 차이를 검증하였다. 그리고 주요 7개국의 평가 결과를 비교하기 위해 각 국가 대학의 평가준거와 총점 점수의 평균을 계산하였다. 분석 결과, 아시아대학 순위 평가에서는 총점에 대해 연구 영역이 가장 영향력이 있었고, 아시아대학은 지식이전수입을 제외한 교육여건, 연구, 인용, 국제화영역과 총점에서 모두 평균 점수가 낮았다. 아시아 주요 7개국 비교에서는 일본이 가장 많은 대학을 배출하였으나, 홍콩 대학들의 총점 평균이 가장 높았다. 아시아권 대학들은 아시아대학 순위 평가에서 순위를 향상시키기 위해서 연구 영역을 개선하는데 집중해야 하고, 세계대학과의 격차를 좁히기 위해서는 인용 영역에 투자할 필요가 있다. 한국의 대학들은 인용지수 개선에 투자를 해야 할 것으로 나타났다. 그 외, 인도와 동아시아권 국가들은 인용과 국제화 영역에 투자를, 터키는 교육여건과 연구영역을 개선해야할 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of the criteria on the overall score of the Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings (AUR), to compare the AUR and the World University Rankings, and to compare the result of the seven major countries of the AUR. The methods used were the stepwise regression and independent T-test. To compare the seven countries, the average score of the criteria and the overall score was calculated. In the AUR, the criterion of Research was the most influential one on the overall score. World universities overwhelmed Asian universities in terms of Teaching, Research, Citation and International Outlook. In the comparison of Asian countries, while Japan had the largest number of universities, the average overall score of Hong Kong universities was higher than any other country’s university. Asian universities should concentrate on improving Research in order to increase their ranking. To narrow the gap between the universities in the world, Asian universities should invest their resources on refining Citation. Korean universities are required to enhance Citation. East Asian and Indian universities should enhance Citation and International Outlook, whereas Turkish universities should ameliorate Teaching and Research.
