좋은 대학수업의 특성에 대한 문화기술적 사례 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 대학 수업의 수월성을 강화하는 방안으로서, '좋은 대학수업'으로 평가받은 인문ㆍ사회 계열의 우수 수업 사례들로부터 좋은 수업의 특성을 분석하였다. 문화기술적 사례 연구를 수행한 본 연구의 결과로 도출된 좋은 대학수업의 특성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, '학습내용의 구성과 제시 방법' 측면에서는 풍부한 학습내용을 제공하고, 구조화 된 학습내용을 제시하며, 명확한 설명이 주어지고, 학습내용과 연계된 유머가 사용되며, 심화학습을 유도하는 과제를 제시하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, '학습방법' 측면에서는 잘 연계된 다양한 학습활동을 사용하고, 학습자의 참여가 포함되는 활발한 상호작용이 나타났다. 셋째, '학습동기 유발 및 학습 지원'의 측면에서는 학업 성과 증명의 기회 및 피드백이 지속적으로 제공되고, 학습한 내용의 활용가능성을 강조하고, 지적 자극, 열정 등을 갖도록 지원하며, 학습자의 적극적인 수업 참여를 유도하고, 과제 수행에 대한 지원이 이루어지며, 학습 전략을 제시하는 특성이 나타났다. 넷째, '수업 관리' 측면에서는 단위 수업에 대한 관리와 한 학기 수업 전체에 대한 관리를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, '학생 평가 및 수업 평가'의 측면에서는 학생 평가를 다양한 방식으로 하고, 수업에 대한 성찰과 평가도 다양하게 하였다. 이와 같은 좋은 수업을 가능하게 하는 가장 근본적인 요인은 교수자의 열정과 지식이라 할 수 있다. 교수자의 열정은 수업에 대한 열정과 학생에 대한 열정으로 나누어지며, 교수자의 지식은 수업 내용에 대한 지식과 수업 방법에 대한 방법적 지식이 포함된다. 이러한 교수자의 열정과 지식을 바탕으로 하여 수업에 대한 철저한 준비를 하고, 끊임없는 성찰을 통해서 수업의 질적 개선과 향상을 위한 노력을 할 때, 비로소 학생들의 입장에서 "남는 것이 많은" 수업이 될 수 있는 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of good college classes by analyzing the Humanities and Social Sciences courses that were rated as 'good'. In a two-year ethnographic case study, researcher performed 28 classroom observations and in-depth interviews with the professors and students of 6 classes rated "good". For the analysis and integration of the data, taxonomic analysis was used. The findings of this research were as follows. First, in terms of programming and presentation of contents, good college classes were those where the professors provided various meaningful content in a well-structured manner, and through a structured learning content. Furthermore, professors gave clear and logical explanations, used a sense of humor in conjunction with learning content, and offered tasks which induced intensive study. Second, in terms of learning methods, good college classes provided various learning activities and induced learners' participation through active interaction. Third, in terms of learning motivation and learning support, good college classes provided students the opportunities to prove academic achievement through continuous feedback from the professor; supported intellectual stimulation, self-confidence and passion of the students; encouraged students' active participation; supported task performance; and provided learning strategies. Fourth, in terms of class management, good college classes managed the whole course of the semester as well as each unit class. Fifth, in terms of student assessment and classroom assessment, good college classes assessed the students and the class in various ways. The most fundamental factors contributing to a good class were the professor's passion for teaching and devotion to his or her students, as well as the professor's knowledge about the content of the major classes and of various teaching methods. Preparation for class and reflection of the class is thus based on the professor's passion and knowledge. Through efforts to improve class quality, these classes will be memorable for the students.
