국문 초록

이 글에서는 한국문학 텍스트의 발굴과 재조명을 위한 필요 조건들이 무엇인지를 다루었다. 이론적인 논의가 아니라, 필자의 연구 체험을 통한 ‘경계 허물기’의 필요성을 중심으로 이 문제를 다루었다. 새 텍스트의 발굴과 재조명은 저절로 이루어지는 게 아니다, 필요 조건이 갖추어져 있을 때 가능하다는 사실을, 필자의 연구 경험을 근거로 피력하였다. 한국문학 텍스트의 발굴과 재조명을 위해 필요한 것이 무엇인가? 그것은 ‘경계 허물기’라고 강조하였다. 영역간의 경계를 허물어야만 한국문학 텍스트의 발굴과 재조명이 활성화될 수 있다고 보았다. 다음 네 가지 경계를 허물자고 했다. 첫째, 고전문학과 현대문학의 경계, 둘째, 기록문학과 구비문학의 경계, 셋째, 한국어문학과 한국국적문학의 경계, 넷째, 문학과 비문학(음악ㆍ민속ㆍ구술문화ㆍ국어학)의 경계 등을 허물자고 했다. 주지하다시피, 현재 한국문학 학계는 여러 가지 영역으로 구분되어 있다. 고전문학과 현대문학, 기록문학과 구비문학, 한국문학과 한국문학이 아닌 것, 문학과 비문학 등의 구분이 그것이다. 하지만 이는 어디까지나 작업상의 편의를 위한 구분일 뿐, 존재로서의 한국문학은 총체적이고 미분화된 무엇일 것이다. 비록 영역을 구분해 작업한다 하더라도, 항상 이 사실을 잊지 말아야, 우리의 연구가, 한국문화를 해명하고 한국인이 누구인지 해명하는 데 기여해 인문학의 위기도 해소할 수 있을 것이다. 그 필요성과 가능성에 대해, 그 동안 필자가 해온 관련 작업들을 예증 삼아 논의하면서, 앞으로 해볼 만한 연구 거리가 무엇인지도 제시하였다.

영문 초록

This paper dealt with what are conditions necessary for the discovery and re-illumination of Korean literary texts. It dealt this question focusing on the necessity of ‘breaking up the boundary’ through the author’s research experience not through theoretical discussion. The discovery and re-illumination of new texts are not done naturally, and the fact that they are possible with the necessary conditions was argued based on the author’s research experience. What is necessary for the discovery and re-illumination of Korean literary texts? It emphasized ‘breaking up the boundary.’ It viewed that the discovery and re-illumination of Korean literary texts can be vitalized if the boundary between domains is broken up. It suggested that the following four kinds of boundary should be broken up: first, the boundary between classical literature and contemporary literature; second, the boundary between written literature and oral literature; third, the boundary between Korean literature (Korean literature texts for Koreans) and non-Korean literature (foreign literature texts for Koreans and Korean literature text for Koreans); and fourth, the boundary between literature and narrative literature (Music, folklore, oral culture, and linguistics) should be broken up. As you know, currently Korean academics of literature are divided into several domains: i.e. divisions between classical texts and contemporary texts; between documentary literature and oral literature; Korean literature and non-Korean literature; and between literature and narrative literature, etc. However, they are just classifications for operational convenience, and Korean literature as an existence would be something holistic and undifferentiated. Even if one works on literature dividing domains, this fact should not be forgotten, so that our study can contribute to identifying Korean culture and who Koreans are so as to revolve the crisis of humanities. For the necessity and possibility, by discussing the evidences from the related works the author has made so far, what can be done in the future also were suggested.
