건륭 연간 연행록을 통해 본 중국도서 유입에 대하여

국문 초록

대체로 건륭 연간에 청조의 수도 북경 內府에서 찍어낸 서책과 京杭 運河를 통해 서적의 집산지인 북경으로 몰려온 서책들이 조선에 유입되었다. 이 연구는 건륭 연간 중국 서책의 생산, 유통, 소비 문제를 조선과 중국과의 貢道에서 확인하는 작업이다. 건륭 연간 연행로에서의 서적 구매 상황, 중국서적에 대한 전에 없이 풍성한 書目이 유입되어 참고서가 되었으며 이를 바탕으로 서적을 구입하였음을 살펴보았다. 아울러 조선의 영정조와 건륭기에 있어던 禁書 상황을 간략하게 살펴보았다. 구체적인 서적 유입상황을 보면, 건륭 시기에 내부에서 간행된 도서들은 청 정부의 동태를 파악하거나, 학술사에 중요한 저작들이 많이 상당부분 조선으로 유입되었을 것이라 추정된다. 청조 학술의 변화에 따라 연암 그룹을 중심으로한 청조 學人과의 교유에서 상당 부분 청조 학술의 성과를 다룬 저작들이 유입되었다. 학술의 주된 관심은 주륙논쟁에 대한 청대의 반응과 이에 대한 조선의 관심으로 이에 관련 저작들이 다수 유입되었다. 특히 청초의 순정한 주자학을 표방한 학자들은 더욱더 관심이 되었으며, 일반적으로 이불과 같은 양명학자인 경우는 비판이 대상이 되었다. 사부의 저작에는 이전 역사서는 물론, 연행 노정의 府縣志, 새롭게 중국 내부에서 간행되는 역사서의 유입이 눈에 띈다. 자부에서는 병법, 천문, 역산 관련서의 경우 실용서인 까닭에 상당히 긴급하고 집중적으로 구입되었다. 집부의 저작은 명말 유민에 대한 관심, 이 시기 교유가 확대되면서 교유인의 문집의 유입, 새로운 성향의 시문집의 유입 등이 눈에 띈다. 앞으로 개개 도서가 어떻게 조선에 영향을 주었는지 하는 문제에 대해 천착한다면, 조선을 이해하는 중요한 실마리가 될 것이라 여겨진다.

영문 초록

This article examined the aspects of books flowed in from China through the Yunhangrok of Qing’s Chien Lung period. In that period, Chinese books had been purchased in the envoy route from Shanhaiguan(山海關) to Beijing and Liulichang(琉璃廠) in Beijing. In particular, the considerable number of catalogues of Chinese books had been distributed, helping those people who wanted to the books. However, Chinese books purchasing had come across an obstacle when some books that contained certain negative attitudes to Qing dynasty or Manchuria were banned by Emperor Chien Lung who progressed 『Sikuquanshu (四庫全書)』 compilation project. In Joseon, King Yeongjo also punished people who possessed Chinese books that had the contents against Joseon dynasty. King Jeongjo, who was positive at first in importing Chinese books, banned the book inflow because Western Learning, having the same doctrine with the Roman Catholic Church, could deny the Confucianism system. Munchebanjeong (文體反正) was a series of actions to prohibit the purchase of wide range of Chinese books. Looked at the already imported Chinese books, books published by Qing government are very important. Joseon government purchased many of those books to investigate the situation of Qing and acquire new intelligence. However, the focus of book purchasing was given to the books that showed the new trends of learning and literature in Qing. The inflow of books related to documental archaeology provoked scholars’ attention. The books of literature also showed different features from previous period and had effect on Joseon’s writers.
