한국수산지의 통계자료와 문제점

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 근대 수산업사 연구에서 구한말 일본인들에 의해 작성된 수산관련 자료에 대한 체계적인 검토가 시급하게 이루어져야 한다는 문제의식에서 출발하였다. 본문에서는 우선 한국수산지를 개괄적으로 소개하면서 자료의 성격을 파악하고，다음으로 인구와 어획량에 관한 통계자료를 도표화하여 기초 정보를 제공하면서 그 통계자료가 가지고 있는 문제점을 지적하고자 하였다. 그 결과 한국수산지는 어촌 마을 단위로 자세하게 조사되었고 그 조시내용이 1 차 자료로서 상당한 가치가 있다고 말할 수 있지만， 통계자료의 내용이 불규칙한 경향을 보이고 있고 상호 비교 연구할 수 있는 자료가 부족해 자료의 타당성 여부를 확인하기가 어려운 문제점이 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 한국수산지의 통계자료는 본문에서 언급하듯이 몇 가지 한계점들과 제약사항들로 인해 그 적용에 있어 매우 신중해야 한다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로 이런 문제점들을 해결하기 위해서 많은 논의와 연구가 필요할 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper deals with the maritime materials for Chosun Fishery written by Japanese during the Dae-han Empire period. In November 1905, Ul-sa convention was signed under the Japanese colonial policy. Under these circumstances, it needed to be more reasonable and effective action on fishery area of Chosun so they established. The Fisheries Bureau to investigate it. As a virtual outcome, the first volume of 『The Chronicle of Korean Fisheries』 was published in 1908. 『The Chronicle of Korean Fisheries』 is well known by its in-depth data like a sea conditions, geographical features, fish identifications and etc. So it has been used widely for study of Korean maritime history. Despite of its great academic value, some flaws were founded because of the shortage of organization, man-power and specific analysis and the irregularity of research reports. My interest is the accuracy and reliability of 『The Chronicle of Korean Fisheries』. For this purpose, the population and the mount of fisheries were checked by statistical analysis within the bounds of Ham-gyung region. As the result, this study can find several problems in 『The Chronicle of Korean Fisheries』 data. In spite of minute research for every sea village, the data show the irregular aspects. Besides there is few material to be empaled with the data of 『The Chronicle of Korean Fisheries』. For these reasons, we pay full attention to use the data of 『The Chronicle of Korean Fisheries』.
