少陵家의 使行 經驗과 詩的 形象化

국문 초록

거주와 이동, 유람의 한계가 선명했던 조선 사회에서 사행은 새로운 문물을 받아들이고 지식을 확장하는 중요한 수단이었다. 특히 사행의 공간 중 중국은 단순히 새롭고 낯설다는 의미만을 지니지 않는다. 그것은 중국에 대한 경험이 그 자체로 새로운 지식의 습득으로까지 인식되었기 때문이다. 따라서 중국 사행의 경험은 使行者에게 새로운 지식을 습득하여 당대 사회의 선진 지식인으로 자리 잡을 수 있게 하는 중요한 계기가 되었다. 少陵家, 혹은 후대 성호 이익에 의해 星湖家로도 불렸던 여주 이씨 집안은 유달리 많은 使行경험을 지니고 있었다. 12세 李繼孫이후 18세 李夏鎭에 이르기까지 한 세대에서 두 번 혹은 한 인물이 두 번 씩 사신을 가기도 하여 모두 5대가 연이어 빠짐없이 중국에 다녀왔기 때문이다. 이러한 사행 경력은 당대 어떤 집안과 비교해 보아도 결코 작은 것이라 하기 어렵다. 아니 작은것이라기보다는 특별한 경력이었다고 보아야 할 것이다. 이와 같은 사행 경험은 자연히 다음 세대에 전해져 후손들의 학문 세계에 영향을 미쳤으리라 생각된다. 이 글에서는 현재 문헌을 확인할 수 있는 소릉가의 세 인물, 소릉과 태호, 매산을 중심으로 이들의 사행 경험이 드러난 시를 살펴보고, 그 시 사이의 영향관계를 알아보고자 한 것이다. 소릉과 태호, 매산의 사행시를 살펴보면 기본적인 내용에서 공통점을 가진다. 그것은 이들의 사행시가 客愁와 憂愁그리고 國事에 대한 충정의식을 보여주기 때문이다. 하지만, 이 공통점을 바탕으로 이들 세 사람의 사행시가 형식적이거나 내용상의 연관관계를 가지고 있다거나, 영향의 수수관계속에 놓여 있다고 보기는 어렵다. 그것은 이들 세 사람의 사행시에서 확인할 수 있는 객수나 우수 혹은 고향에 대한 그리움, 그리고 국사에 대한 충정의식은 일반적으로 사행시에서 발견할 수 있는 사행시의 보편적인 모습이기 때문이다. 결국 세 사람의 사행시는 그 기본적인 내용에서 공통점을 지니고 있다고 하더라도 실질적으로 별다른 영향관계를 확인하기 어렵다. 영향관계의 확인에 따른 시 창작 혹은 시세계의 연속성보다 이들의 시에서는 개별적 독 자성이 훨씬 더 크게 나타난다고 생각된다. 그것은 비록 객수나 우수, 고향에 대한 그리움과 국사에 대한 충정의식이 이들 세 사람 사행시의 공통적속성이라고는 하지만, 그 층위와 범주가 상당히 다른 양상을 보여주고 있기 때문이다. 이와 같은 세 사람 사행시의 변별성은 이들의 사행이 각기 다른 상황에서 이루어졌다는 것에 기인한다고 생각된다. 사행의 목적이 다를 경우 사행에 임하는 사신의 의식이 달라지기 때문에 이와 같은 세 사람 사행시의 변별적 특성은 당연한 것이라고 할 수 있다. 그렇지만 가문의 사행 경력이나 경험이 후대에 어떤 영향도 미치지 못했다고 보기는 어렵다고 생각된다. 가문의 사행 경험은 후대에 상당한 영향을 미쳤고, 이들의 학문과 의식의 형성에 중대한 역할을 했으리라 생각된다. 하지만, 그러한 가문의 사행 경력도 막상 자신이 사행을 가게 되었을 때에는 그다지 직접적인 영향을 미치지 못한 것이 아닐까 생각된다. 그것은 가문 내의 경험적 계승도 결국 간접적으로 전해들은 간접 체험에 불과했기 때문일 것이다. 특히 시문학 작품의 창작이란 기본적으로 개인의 정서와 훈련된 창작 방법에 따라 이루어지게 된다는 점에서 시문학 작품을 통한 연관관계의 확인은 애초부터 불가능한 것이라 할 수도 있다. 그렇지만, 소릉과 태호를 거친 뒤 매산에 이르러 완연하게 확대된 사행시의 다양한 경향에 대해 매산의 개인적인 시 창작 역량이 그동안 축적되어 온 가문의 사행 경험과 합해지면서 다양한 방면으로 시선을 돌릴 수 있게 만들었기 때문이라고 생각된다. 이러한 점에서 소릉의 사행 경험은 태호를 거쳐 매산에게까지 지속적으로 후대에 영향을 미쳐왔고, 후대에서는 선대의 경험을 바탕으로 다양한 발전을 이루었다고 할 수 있다.

영문 초록

In Chosun, the boundary of living, moving and sightseeing was very clear so envoy was very important way to accept new culture and expanding the knowledge. Especially China among many different places envoy went had more meaning then new and unfamiliar. Because the experience of China was recognized as learning new knowledge. By this reason, experience of China envoy gave some chance to learn new knowledge so was very important opportunity to be positioned as leading intelligentsia in that time. SoLeung family or Lee family called SeongHo family by SeongHo LeeIk had a lot of envoy experiences then any others. From GeaSon Lee, 12years old to HaJin Lee, 18years old, their families had envoy experiences for China for 5 generations time period. Sometimes they had two times experiences in one generation and sometimes one person went China twice. These experiences was more than any other families had at that time. It might be considered as very special carrier. This envoy experience was handed down to the next generation and gave some influence in their study. In this write, checking the poetries showing the experiences of three major person, SoLeung, TaeHo and Masan in SoLeung family and will see how this experiences effected in their poetries. When check their poetries, there are some common things between them. Because the poetries show some nostalgia, melancholy and royalty for their country. But all these common things can't be considered that these three people's poetries has the same form, any relationship in the contents or any effects by each others. These common things, nostalgia, melancholy and royalty for their country, was very popular in quatrain. So it is hard to say the quatrains written by these three people has any relationship between them even there are some common thing in basic contents. Rather than any creativity or any sequences in the poetries by checking the relationship, these poetries has more personal independence. Because each of people has different level of nostalgia, melancholy and royalty for their country even these are the common factors in their poetries. And these differentiation of their quatrains considered that their envoies was made in different situations. If the purpose of the envoy was different then the embassy's mind could be different and all these three people's quatrains had differentiation. But it is hard to say there was no any influence of their carrier and experiences to their next generation. These experiences in their family gave a lot of influences to their next generations and considered contributing to build the mind for studing in next generation. But it was considered that all these family envoy experiences didn't give any influence when he had envoy experience. Because the family's experiences was indirect handed down. Especially, new poetry is created based on personal emotion and the trained way of creation so it also can be said that is not possible to check the relationship between the poetries. But the expanded the trend of quatrain by the time Masan wrote through the history that SoLeung and Taeho created, and Masan's personal capability of poetry creation was added the cumulated the experiences in his family made possible to see many different view. In this viewpoint, SoLeung's envoy experience was handed down to Taeho and Masan continuously, and the next generations also developed based on their ancestor's experiences.
