국문 초록

본고는 과거 선비 개인의 일상에서 여행의 의미가 어떠했는지 그리고 당시 선비들이 여행을 통해 여행 장소와 공간을 어떻게 인지하였으며 또 동시에 어떤 감성을 발휘하고 형성했는지 그 실상을 파악하는 데 주력하였다. 다음으로 조선후기 영남 선비들이 여행을 통해 형성했던 공간 감성에 있어 일정한 공통분모가 존재했었는지에 대해 파악해보고자 하였다. 조선시대 선비들의 여행은 다양한 형태로 이루어졌다. 그것은 우리가 주지하듯 명산유람의 취미와 오락 위주의 탐승 차원도 많았지만, 또 어떤 여행은 일상의 영위 속에서 할 수 밖에 없는 여행도 있었던 것이 사실이다. 예컨대 科行이라든가 人事다니기 또는 벼슬살이와 관련된 각종 여정 등은 선택하고 계획해서 하는 여행이 아니었기 때문이다. 그들의 삶 속에서 여행은 생활이 부여하는 동기 또는 계기를 통해 각종 양상으로 형성되었다. 조선시대 선비들의 여행을 들여다보기 위해 그들의 생활을 주목해야 하는 이유가 바로 여기에 있다. 살펴본 결과, 조선후기 영남 선비들의 여행과 공간감성은 자신들의 생활 세계를 토대로 상호자극의 관계에 있었다. 그들의 공간감성은 축적된 기행시문을 매개로 일정한 공감대를 형성하며 전이되거나 또 확산되었으며, 때로는 공감대라는 테두리 안으로 파고들며 폐쇄성을 띠기도 했다. 이러한 공간감성은 여행체험에 대한 욕망을 부추겼고, 실제 여행체험은 다시 공간감성을 자극하여 기행시문으로 형상화된다. 이 순환의 과정에서 여행자들은 혈연·학연·지연 관계에 의해 장소와 공간에 대한 감성의 계보를 조직한다. 특히 청량산·도산·지리산·화양동과 같은 어떤 특정한 공간들은 선현의 자취로 인해 상징성이 매우 두드러졌으며, 이 상징성은 지속적으로 후인들에게 영향을 끼치며 공간감성의 소통과 경계를 만들고 있었다. 여행의 형태는 여행자 개인의 삶과 연동되어 있다. 여행범위부터 장소와 시간에 대한 결정과 선택은 생활 현실과 대단히 밀착되어 있기 때문이다. 그리고 그 생활 현실이라는 것이 어떤 측면에서는 개인성이 두드러지지만 또 다른 측면에서는 계파와 집단의 보편성도 존재하므로, 조선후기 영남 선비들의 여행 모습에 공통적 양상이 있을 것이라는 판단은 일정한 타당성을 가진다고 할 수 있겠다.

영문 초록

The journey of scholars during Joseon Dynasty was consisted of various forms. It was not only for leisure and going sightseeing as we noticed already but also for the journey that they have to go around to lead their everyday life. The latter types of journey were going on a trip to take Gwageo, the highest-level state examination to recruit ranking officials during the Joseon Dynasty, and to visit people, and to be in the government service, and these types were not planned the itinerary or chosen to go on a trip. The journey in their life was made up of various aspects through the motive or the opportunity that their life granted. It is why we have to focus on their life style to look through the journey of scholars during Joseon Dynasty, and also it is why we have to approach this point of view to come closer to their space sensitivity. This thesis is mainly focused on what the travel means to the scholar's personal life in the past and how their space sensitivity is formed. Then, this article was tried to find out whether or not there was the common denominator of the space sensitivity to the Yeongnam scholars during the late Joseon Dynasty. As a result, the relationship between the journey and the space sensitivity of Yeongnam scholars during the late Joseon Dynasty was on the mutual stimulus relation, Their space sensitivity with their travel essay was spread and diffused by developing a bond of sympathy, sometimes it showed the closeness by snuggling into the bond of sympathy. These space sensitivity was incited the desire to the experience of travel, and the actual experience of travel again gave shape to the travel essay by simulating their space sensitivity. The travelers form the pedigree of space sensitivity by the relation between blood ties, school ties, and regionalism during this cycle of process. Especially, certain places such as Cheongryang mountain, Do mountain, Jiri mountain, and Hwayang-dong were exceptional its symbolism by the traces of the ancient sages, and this symbolism continuously influenced on future generations and was making boundary and communication of the space sensitivity. The type of journey is linked with individuals' life, because the decision and choice based on the range of journey, place, and time were extremely sticked to the reality of the life. And, on the one hand, the individuality in the reality of life is very remarkable, on the other hand, th universality of clique and group exists. Therefore, the judgement that Yeongnam scholars during the late Joseon Dynasty have the common aspect of their travel style could have the validity.
