국문 초록

이 글은 프로문학 연구의 새로운 방향을 제기하기 위해 운명과 법이라는 키워드에 주목하여 1920년대 프로소설을 분석했다. 지금까지의 프로문학 연구는 운동사/비평사적 관점에서 수행됨으로써, ‘소설과 비평의 간극’을 확대시키고, 1920년대 프로소설을 ‘이념의 미달태’로 정의했다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위해, 우선적으로 필요한 작업은 ‘이념’의 외부에서 소설의 내부를 들여다보는 일이다. 1920년대 프로소설은 ‘운명의 무죄성’에 대한 자각과 사회제도의 모순을 비판하려는 의지로 구성되었다. 사회제도는 법권력과 이를 뒷받침하는 학교, 교회 같은 기관들의 중층구조로 이루어졌다. 이러한 구조는 인간의 운명을 불행으로 만드는 구조적 원인으로 제시되고 있다. 1920년대 프로소설은 이러한 지점들을 하나의 장치처럼 소설 곳곳에 배치시켜 놓고 있다. 이를 통해 프로소설은 사회 제도에 의해 억압된 인간을 구원하겠다는 휴머니티를 표현하고 있는 것이다. 무엇보다 이 점은 프로문인이 전유했던 사회주의란 무엇인지를 보여준다는 점에서 시사하는 바가 크다. 앞으로의 프로문학 연구는 이러한 지점들을 고려하는 가운데 새롭게 진행될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed 1920s proletarian novels focusing on key words of fate and law to present a new direction for proletarian literature. Proletarian literature studies until today have focused on history of movement and critique, expanded ‘gap between novels and critiques,’ and defined 1920s proletarian novels as ‘a form of incomplete ideology.’ In order to solve this problem, the first thing that needs to be done is to look at the inside of the novel from the outside position of ‘ideology.’ Proletarian novels of the 1920s are structured with consciousness of ‘non-guilt of fate’ and the will to criticize contradictions of the social system. The social system consists of layers such as the power of the law and facilities that support the law, such as schools and churches. This structure is presented as a structural reason that causes misfortune in the fate of people. 1920s proletarian novels place these points here and there in the stories. Through this, proletarian novels express humanity that tries to save people repressed by the social system. Above all, this is an important point because it shows what socialism claimed by proletarian writers is. Future studies on proletarian literature can find a new direction that considers such points.
