다문화 교양 교과 수강자의 전공계열, 학년, 성별에 따른 다문화 감수성 차이 분석

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 대학생들의 다문화 교양교육 수강자의 전공 계열, 학년, 성별에 따른 다문화 감수성의 차이를 분석하는 것이다. 이 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해 경북 소재의 D대학에서 다문화 교양 교과목을 개설하였다. 개설된 교양 교과목은 팀 토의 활동과 개인 성찰 활동을 위주로 구성 및 운영되었다. 이 교과목은 59명이 수강하였으며, 이 중 48명의 수강자를 대상으로 수강 14주차에 전공, 학년, 성별과 다문화 감수성 조사를 실시하였다. 이후 조사한 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 감수성의 차이를 검토하기 위해 대해 일원분산분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 학생들의 전공계열 및 학년별 다문화 감수성에 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 사후 검정을 통해 자세히 살펴본 결과 보건계열 학생들이 공과계열 및 사회계열 학생들보다 다문화 감수성이 유의미하게 높게 나타났다. 하지만 공과계열 및 사회계열 학생들 사이에서는 유의미한 차이가 없었다. 학년별 차이의 경우 1학년과 3학년, 1학년과 4학년, 2학년과 3학년, 2학년과 4학년 학생들에게 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, 저학년 학생들이 고학년 학생들보다 다문화 감수성이 높게 나타났다. 성별에 따른 다문화 감수성의 차이는 나타나지 않았으며, 각 변수 간 상호작용 효과도 나타나지 않았다.

영문 초록

This study is aimed at, in recognition of the need for liberal arts education on multiculturalism, measuring the effectiveness of multicultural liberal arts education on students with different personal characteristics. Specifically, this study seeks to analyze the effect of multicultural liberal arts courses depending on students’ majors, grades, and genders. To achieve study goal, a multicultural liberalarts course was opened at D University in Gyeongsangbuk-do. This course focused on team debates and reflection activities designed to shape students’ attitudes and values about multiculturalism. Then, in Week 14 of the course, the students were surveyed for their majors, grades, genders, and levels of multicultural acceptability. ANOVA was performed to understand difference in multicultural acceptability among students. The findings revealed significant difference depending on the students’ majors and grades. A post-hoc test showed that students in healthcare-related majors showed significantly higher multicultural acceptability levels than students majoring in social science and engineering. Students with lower grade were found to be more accepting toward multiculturalism than their seniors. No significant difference in acceptance was found between students with different genders. This study contributes to the exiting body of work by suggesting the need for considering the majors and university years of participating students when universities plan their liberal arts courses on multiculturalism.
