국문 초록

중국 도시공간의 특수성을 사회주의적 도시공간이나 전통적 도시구조의 유산만으로는 설명할 수 없다. 근대국가 건설 과정의 질곡에서 비롯된 근대적 도시계획 요소의 복잡한 도입 과정은 기존의 중국식 도시 공간 형성에 관한 설명을 보완해 준다. 도입 경로의 복잡성뿐 아니라 중국적 상황과의 상호작용 역시 중국식 도시공간의 형성에 중요한 영향을 미쳤다. 능묘의 조성, 행정중심지의 선정, ‘皇宮’의 건설 등 정치적 정당성의 문제를 공간적으로 해결할 필요성은 근대적 도시계획의 중국적 변형을 가져왔다. 세 차례의 수도건설은 새로운 도시계획 요소가 중국에 도입되는 계기로 작용했으며, 도시계획 제도와 관행의 초보적 형성에 영향을 미쳤다. 특히 도시계획의 변용 과정에서 도시와 관련된 전통적 관념이 강한 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 이전 시대의 도시가 남긴 물리적 유산은 전통과의 관계 설정이라는 문제를 지속적으로 제기하고 있다.

영문 초록

The specificity of Chinese urban space cannot be explained only by the legacy of socialist urban space or traditional urban structure. The complex introduction process of modern urban planning elements resulting from the difficulty of the modern state construction process complements the explanation of the existing Chinese-style urban space formation. Not only the complexity of the introduction route but also the interaction with the Chinese situation had an important influence on the formation of Chinese-style urban spaces. The need to spatially solve the problems of political legitimacy, such as the creation of a tomb, the selection of an administrative center, and the construction of a palace, brought about a Chinese transformation of modern urban planning. The three capital construction plans served as an opportunity for the introduction of new urban planning elements to China, and influenced the initial formation of urban planning systems and practices. In particular, in the process of transforming urban planning, traditional concepts related to cities had a strong influence. In addition, the physical heritage left by cities in the previous era continues to raise the issue of establishing relations with tradition.
