초등 ‘미래형’ 혁신학교 교육과정의 특징 분석

국문 초록

연구목적: 우리나라의 혁신학교 운동이 ‘미래형 혁신학교’로 전환되고 있는 시점에서 그동안 혁신학교가 학교 교육과정을 어떻게 계획·운영하고 있는지를 분석하여 미래형 혁신학교의 특징을 도출하고 학교혁신이 활성화될 수 있는 과제를 모색하고자 다음의 연구문제를 설정하고 연구를 수행하였다. 첫째, 미래형 혁신학교는 교육의 개념과 방향을 어떻게 설정하고 있는가, 둘째, 미래형 혁신학교는 학교 교육과정의 핵심요소들을 어떻게 구체화하고 있는가. 연구방법: 미래형 혁신학교로 지정된 세 개 초등학교를 대상으로 문서 분석 방법을 사용하여 학교교육과정을 분석하였으며, 분석틀은 Posner(2004), 조대훈, 이수미(2012), 이주연 외(2019)의 혁신학교 교육과정 분석틀의 분석 요소를 통합하여 사용하였다. 연구결과: 미래형 혁신학교의 교육과정을 분석한 결과, 첫째, 미래형 혁신학교에서의 혁신교육은 기존의 교육에서 새로운 방향을 추구하되 그 본질은 교육활동에서 교육의 주체가 살아나고 그 주체들 간의 민주적인 소통과 관계를 통해 성장하는 과정이라는 열린 개념이다. 세 학교는 교육과정 편성·운영의 방향에서 모두 시교육청의 미래형 혁신학교 운영 과제 카테고리와 유사한 명칭을 사용하여 단위 학교의 중점사항을 도출하는 공통점이 있었으며, 하위 혁신 내용을 미미하게 수정하는 방식으로 소극적인 차이를 드러내고 있다. 둘째, 세 학교의 학교 교육과정 핵심요소인 교육목표와 교육내용 측면으로 나누어 비교 분석한 결과, 교육목표는 학교의 상(想) 혹은 비전, 교육주체별 인간상, 교육목표, 학교문화 및 가치 등 다양한 개념으로 나타나고 있었고, B초만 핵심역량을 설정하고 있었다. 시간 배당 기준에서 세 학교 모두 특정 교과시수를 증가시키는 형태를 보였으나 그 폭이 좁아 시수 증감에 대한 자율성 권한을 적극적으로 사용하지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, B초는 창의적 체험활동에 청소년 단체 활동을 추가하는 자율성을 발휘하고 있었고, 세 학교 모두 범교과 학습 주제를 몇 개 추가하는 방식을 선택하고 있었다. 논의 및 결론: 혁신학교의 변화가 학교 교육과정을 둘러싼 교육주체간의 공동체적 작업과정이라는 점이 확인됨에 따라 학교 교육과정을 자율화하는 방향성이 강화되어야 한다는 것과 그 자율화가 실질적으로 이루어지기 위해서는 장려요인과 제약요인에 대한 섬세한 확인이 선행되어야 함을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: At a time when Innovation School movement is transitioning to a future-type’ innovation school, it is possible to derive the characteristics of the future-type innovative school by analyzing how the innovative school plans and operates the school curriculum to promote school innovation. To find the task, the following research questions were set and the research was conducted. First, how does the ‘future-type’ innovation school set the concept and direction of education? Second, how does future-type’ innovation school materialize the core elements of the school curriculum? Method: The school curriculum was analyzed using the document analysis method, and the analysis framework was integrated used by Posner(2004), Cho Dae-hoon, Lee Su-mi(2012), and Lee Ju-yeon et al.(2019). Results: As a result of analyzing the curriculum, first, the meaning of innovative education for the future-type’ innovation school was an open concept of new direction from the existing education, but the essence was that the subject of education iwas revived in educational activities and relationships between the subjects. All three schools had a common point in deriving the main points in the direction of curriculum organization and operation by using names similar to the category of the City Office of Education. Second, as a result of comparing the educational goals and educational content aspects, the educational goals were appearing in various concepts, such as school’s image or vision, school and grade educational goas, school culture and values, etc., and only B school set core competencies. In the time allocation standard, all three schools showed a form of increasing specific subjects, but the width was narrow and it was found that they did not actively use the autonomy authority. All three schools were choosing to add a few cross-curricular topics. Conclusion: As it is confirmed that the change of innovative schools is a communal work process between educational subjects, the direction of autonomy of the school curriculum should be strengthened and it is necessary to check the incentive and constraint factors of curriculum autonomy.
