국문 초록

본 연구는 중년남성의 자아정체감과 심리적 안녕감과의 관계에서 공감능력 및 부부의사소통 능력의 매개효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 자료는 전북 및 전남, 충남 지역에 거주하는 중년남성 202명을 대상으로 자아정체감, 공감능력, 부부의사소통 능력, 심리적 안녕감 척도를 사용한 자기보고식 설문지를 통해 수집하였고, PROCESS macro를 사용하여 경로분석을 진행하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 본 연구의 주요 변인들간 유의미한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 자아정체감은 공감능력, 부부의사소통 능력, 심리적 안녕감에 각각 직접효과가 유의하였고, 공감능력은 부부의사소통 능력과 심리적 안녕감에, 그리고 부부의사소통 능력은 심리적 안녕감에 직접효과가 나타났다. 셋째, 공감능력과 부부의사소통 능력은 자아정체감과 심리적 안녕감과의 관계에서 각각 간접효과가 유의하였다. 넷째, 자아정체감과 심리적 안녕감과의 관계에서 공감능력과 부부의사소통 능력은 이중매개효과가 검증되었다. 이러한 연구 결과 중년남성의 심리적 안녕감 증진을 위해 자아정체감 확립을 위한 개입의 필요성을 확인하였다. 끝으로 본 연구의 의의 및 제한점을 논하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of empathic ability and marital communication ability in relation to self-identity and psychological well-being among middle aged men. Data was collected via a self-report questionnaire using self-identity, empathic ability, marital communication ability, psychological well-being scale. Participants included 202 middle aged men from the Chonbuk, Chonnam and Chungnam provinces. Path analysis using the PROCESS macro was utilized. A significant positive correlation between the main variables of this study was identified. Self-identity had a direct effect on empathic ability, marital communication ability, and psychological well-being. Empathic ability was related to marital communication ability and psychological well-being, and marital communication ability had a direct effect on psychological well-being. Empathic ability was indirect effect in the relationship between self-identity and psychological well-being and marital communication ability was also indirect effect in the relationship between self-identity and psychological well-being. Additionally a partial mediation effect was identified. The relationship between self-identity and psychological well-being was mediated by mediating both empathic ability and marital communication ability. These findings confirmed the need for intervention to establish self-identity in order to improve psychological well-being among middle aged men. Implications and limitations of this study are discussed.
