상담 과정 분석을 통한 성인초기 북한이탈남성의 진로정착과정의 이해

국문 초록

본 연구는 성인초기의 북한이탈남성이 하나센터의 북한이탈주민 전문상담사와의 상담을 통하여 직업이나 진로 영역에서 성공적으로 정착해 가는 과정을 이해하기 위하여 이루어졌다. 구체적으로는 그들의 진로 문제의 특성과 맥락, 효과적인 상담 개입 및 상담의 성과 등을 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 3명의 북한이탈주민 전문상담사가 상담한 7사례, 116회기 보고서의 내용들을 근거이론적 질적 분석하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 개방코딩을 통해 115개의 개념, 35개의 하위범주, 12개의 상위범주을 도출하였고, 축코딩을 통해 이들의 진로정착과정 패러다임을 제안하였다. 이들의 진로문제의 중심현상은 ‘진로정착에 대한 양가적 심리적 혼란’이었다. 성공에 대한 간절한 소망이 있지만 공포에 가까운 두려움과 회피/공격적 행동으로 드러나는 양가적 심리적 혼란은 그들이 북한을 탈출하였기에 발생하였고, 심리적 외상 뿐 아니라 문화적 이질감, 빈약한 개인적, 사회적 자산이라는 맥락에서 나타났다. 그러나 북한이탈주민을 위한 전문상담자들은 심리, 생활, 진로, 찾아가는 상담 등 다양한 상담 개입을 하였고, 이를 통해 현실적 이해와 심리적 안정이 먼저 이루어졌고, 결국 생활 변화 및 합목적적 진로행동이 나타나면서 진로결정과 직업적 정착이 이루어졌다. 외상과 심리적 문제를 다루지 않으면 진로영역의 정착이 어렵다는 논의와 연구의 제한점들이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

The goal of this study was to understand the career settlement process of North Korean refugees, specifically young adult males, as they undergo counseling in local Hana centers. The following results stem from a grounded theory analysis of 117 counseling sessions conducted by 3 counselors; seven cases total. Through open coding, 115 concepts with 35 subcategories and 12 upper categories were identified. Via axial coding, a paradigm of career settlement process was suggested: (a) causal condition that they fled from North Korea), (b) context that they were in trauma symptoms, cultural sense of difference, and lack of personal/social resources (c) main phenomena indicative of ambivalent psychological confusion toward career. (d) various counseling interventions specific to clients’ psychology, daily life, career, and out-reach by refugee counselors (e) Through interaction with the interventions, they got to their realistic understanding, psychological stability, and fit-for purpose career behaviors, (f) consequences of career decision and career settlement. The necessity of coping with trauma and psychological issues in order to achieve career settlement and limits of this research are discussed.
