국문 초록

본 연구는 어린이집에서 만3세 아이들의 숨는 장소가 가지는 의미를 알아봄으로써 영유아들의 관점에서 기존의 보육공간을 새롭게 바라보는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 연구자는 자신이 근무하는 기관의 만3세 반(만2세 반의 학기말 시점) 8명을 대상으로 연구를 하였다. 자료 수집은 아이들의 숨는 공간에 대한 인식을 다각적으로 살펴보기 위해 연구자의 참여관찰과 비형식적인 면담, 사진보며 이야기 나누기, 그림 그리기를 활용한 면담, 어린이집 소개하기 등 다양한 방법을 활용해 이루어졌다. 이에 따른 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 만3세 아이들에게 숨는 장소는 몸과 마음이 회복되는 장소, 상상과 기억이 현실로 이루어지는 장소, 또래 혹은 교사와의 친밀감을 높여주는 장소, 교사가 부과하는 규칙으로부터 자유로워지는 장소로서의 의미를 가지고 있었다. 본 연구결과를 종합해보면 만3세 아이들의 숨는 장소는 언어적 표현이 미숙한 아이들의 목소리를 대변하는 행동적 표현이 나타나는 곳이며, 그들만의 세계를 들여다 볼 수 있는 창을 의미하기도 하였다. 따라서 이에 대한 교사의 주의 깊은 관찰이 필요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to look at the existing childcare center from the point of view of children by examining the meanings of 3-year-old children’hiding places at a childcare center. The researcher observed eight 3-year-old children for two months and wrote observation journals. She also interviewed them informally using pictures drawn by themselves and photos taken by the researcher while they played in differing hiding places. 3-year-old children introduced the center to a staff member while touring the center. The observation journals, interviews and conversations during the tour were collected as data to reveal the meanings of various hiding places to 3-year-old children. The results were as follows. The meaning of the hiding places was places to recover their body and mind on their own, to realize their imagination, to enhance intimacy with their peers and the teacher, to be free from adults’gaze and regulations. In summing up the results of this study, the hiding place of 3-year-old children is where behavioral expressions represent the voices of children with poor linguistic expressions, which also meant a window into the world of children. It therefore suggests the need for careful observation by teachers.
