예비교사들이 경험한 예술교육 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

내러티브 탐구는 인간이 경험한 이야기를 듣고 기록하고 이 이야기에 담긴 의미를 찾아냄으로써 우리가 살아가는 방식과 형식들을 이해하려는 노력의 하나라고 할 수 있다. 우리가 예술에 대해 이야기하거나 예술을 가르치고 배운 경험들에 대해 이야기 하는 것은 우리 인간의 삶 속에 예술이 얼마나 가치 있고 예술을 가르치는 것에 무엇이 문제인가를 말해주는 중요한 단서가 될 수 있다. 이 연구는 예술교과와 일반교과 그리고 초등교육 전공을 공부하는 대학생으로 연구 참여자로 선정하여 자신들이 경험한 예술교육의 자전적 이야기를 앞으로 학교 현장에서 교육을 담당할 예비교사들의 내러티브 자료로 수집하여 현재 교육현장에서 실천되고 있는 예술교육의 목적과 의미 차원에서 분석한다. 수집된 예비교사들의 자전적 내러티브들은 예술교육이 예술적 재능과 표현기능을 습득하는 것으로 인식하고 있는 반면, 일상적인 삶 속에서 그리고 예술교과 이외에도 일어날 수 있는 미적 체험과 변화를 가져다주는 것이 예술교육일 수 있다는 인식들을 드러낸다. 내러티브 분석 결과, 예술교 육은 교육의 전 과정에서 일어날 수 있는 교육 주체와 대상 간의 적극적이고 수동적인 과정 전체에서 일어나는 의미 있는 경험으로서의 미적경험에 대한 중요한 가치를 일깨워준다. 예비교사들의 예술교육 경험에 대한 내러티브를 탐구하는 것은 예술의 교육적 가치와 의미에 대한 분석적 결과만이 아니라, 고정된 사고 체계들을 파헤치고 이런 이해들이 어떻게 교육 현장에서 실천적으로 이행되고 있으며 또 앞으로 어떤 방향으로 나아가야하는가에 대한 반성적 성찰을 제공한다.

영문 초록

Narrative research can be seen as an effort to understand our way of life through listening and recording peoples’ experiences and finding meaning from the narratives. Narrating about arts or about experiences through teaching and learning arts can be an important clue in emphasizing the value of arts and the problems of arts education. This paper analyses the autobiographical narratives of arts education experienced by pre-service teachers who will be more able to carry out their perceptions and beliefs of arts education in the educational sites. The pre-service teachers were selected from the students who are studying at 00 University of Education. Their narratives reveal that arts education could be practiced in our daily lives, as well as by teaching the skills and styles. This means that their experiences through arts education can be called aesthetic in that it is meaningfully influenced in the nature or all processes of education. This involves both passive and active processes of interacting between the subjects and the educational objects. The narrative inquiry is not an analytical research of their perceptions of arts education, but a reflective research from where and how their understandings of arts education derive. The research result provides with the practical issue of arts education which should be addressed and inevitably regulated by institutional and intentional ways in a social community.
