국문 초록

박물관 문화유물(artifact)이 갖는 독자성과 개별적 중요성(significance)은 미술의 영역에서 관람자에게 무한한 상상력과 예술적 영감을 제공한다. 박물관 유물을 통한 다양한 미적체험은 예술가들의 동기부여와 창작력에 자극을 가함으로써 ‘박물관학적 미술경향(Museological art tendency)’이라고 일컫는 일련의 미술경향을 파생시켰다. 박물관학적 미술경향은 제임스 퍼트남(James Putnam, 2001: 7)이 그의 책 ‘예술과 문화유물: 매개체로서의 박물관(Art and Artifact: Museum as Medium)’에서 사용한 용어로서(“I have set out here to show an emerging Museological tendency in art which is matched by the use of the traditional museum as a site for artists' interventions”), “박물관 문화유물에 대한 미적체험을 통해 작가들이 각자 박물관을 해석하는 과정에서 생성되는 제반 미술경향”을 지칭한다(김영길, 2006: 368).

영문 초록

This study purposes to analyse the correlation between museum artifact and contemporary art considering the Museological art tendency which is matched by the use of the traditional museum as a site for artists' intervention. The principles followed by museums for ordering their collections have had a strong aesthetic and conceptual influence on contemporary art practice. The establishment of system of organization is as instinctive to human nature as is the accumulation and collecting, and artists frequently imitate the institutional practice of creating inventories and archives as part of a working process. In the using systems of classification, display, archiving and storage, artists have been able to apply Museological methods to both the production and the presentation of their work. In the base of ontological meaning, museum has inevitably correlated with art history. The metamorphic character of museum artifacts has influenced upon the many artists, who are involved in the Museological art tendency as medium to represent their own idea. Through the aesthetic experience and the epistemological approach to museum, the Museological art tendency derives from the reinterpretation of museum artifact in its own way. In this sense, this research concentrates on the following issues: First, for the hermeneutic approach to the museum artifact, this research is attempting to analyse art history within the realm of object art, and to examine the relationship between artistic object and museum artifact. Second, this study is trying to analyse the interaction of museum artifact with the contemporary art. Lastly, this paper is to evolve the prospective tendency for the Museological aesthetics.
