영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the content of elementary art textbooks(grade 3 to grade 6) in order to examine how the idea of the 7th Korean National Art Curriculum was actually realized and embodied in the content itself, and to suggest a guidance in developing art textbooks for the next Korean National Art Curriculum, which will be followed in the near future. The comparison was applied to 4-grade elementary art textbooks developed and approved by the government(Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development, MOE) and KICE(Korea Institute of Curriculum & Evaluation). The study included 1) the relation between the content of the 7th Korean National Art Curriculum and that of the elementary art textbooks, 2) the analysis of the selected content and content organization, and 3) the analysis of artworks by artists and elementary students represented in the elementary art textbooks. Since the 7th Korean National Art Curriculum was notified in 1997, elementary art textbooks for grade 4 to grade 6 were developed in 2001 and 2002. Textbooks for elementary school will have been used for 5 years after they are released during the 7th Korean National Curriculum is in effect. Especially in Korea, elementary textbooks are developed after experimental-stage textbooks developed in advance. And they are only one kind developed unlike middle and high school ones, which are developed by several different private publishing companies and chosen by the national authorization. A study on the content analysis of elementary art textbooks will be the basis for developing the next Korean Art Curriculum and art textbooks. Most of the problems found in this study were focused on the textbook authorization. To solve these and to improve the content of the art textbook, art textbooks should be developed not by the government but by free authors with different point of view.
