전북대학교 입지의 풍수적 특징 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국전쟁 기간에 설립된 전북대학교의 입지선정과 공간구성에서 나타나는 풍수적 특징을 분석하고 있다. 지방 발전의 불균형을 해소하고지방과 수도권의 문화적 차이를 극복하기 위하여 설립된 대학이지만, 국가나 관(官)이 아닌 전주향교와 민간의 주도로 설립된다. 전북대학교의 용(龍)· 혈(穴)·사(砂)·수(水)는 전주향교의 영향으로 풍수적 길격(吉格)을 이루고 있으며, 강학공간을 중시한 공간구조이다. 또한, 길지(吉地)로 검증된 조선 이씨왕조의 땅을 재활용하고 있다. 전북대학교는 국가의 불하(拂下)와 전주향교의 재산 기부가 있었기에 길지의 땅에 대학교 설립이 가능하였다. 더불어 풍수적 사상은 일제강점기와 한국전쟁 등의 역사적 시련 속에서 사라지지 않았고, 유교의 유림(儒林)으로부터 명맥이 이어져 대학교 입지선정과 공간구성의 기준으로 활용되고 있다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the Feng Shui characteristics of location and spatial organization from Chonbuk National University, established during the Korean War. Although it was founded to relieve unbalanced regional development and overcome cultural differences between the local and the metropolitan areas, the university was primarily established not by state or government authorities but by Jeonju Hyanggyo and the private agents. Its Yong(龍), Hyul(穴), Sa(砂), and su(水) consist of auspicious states called Gilgyeok(吉格) in Korean, and its spatial organization focuses on pursuit of study. In addition, the university utilizes land previous Joseon Dynasty royal lineage of Lee family, in which it is verified as the auspicious space called Gilji(吉地) in Korean. It is possible for the Chonbuk National University to be located in the auspicious land, since the governments disposed of the land and Jeonju Hyanggyo donated the land. Furthermore, the Feng Shui principles have been preserved despite historical hardships such as the Japanese colonial era and the Korean War, and descended from Confucian Scholars, the principles have been utilized as criteria of university location selection and spatial organization.
