보물 제336호 정지장군 갑옷(경번갑) 원형 복원을 위한 제작기술 연구

국문 초록

정지장군 갑옷은 과거에 그가 왜구를 물리칠 때 착용했던 것으로 전해진다. 국내 유일한 고려시대 갑옷이며, 경번갑으로 문화유산의 가치가 매우 높은 유물이다. 정지장군 갑옷은 크고 작은 전란을 겪으며 수백 년을 후손들의 손으로 지켜온 소중한 유물이며 그 문화유산으로서 가치를 인정받아 1963년 보물 제336호로 지정되었고, 1984년, 2018년 두 차례에 걸쳐 국립문화유산연구원에서 보존 처리가 이루어졌다. 본 논고의 Ⅱ장에서는 정지장군 갑옷의 형태와 구조를 분석하여 갑옷의 기능과 제작기법을 파악하고자 하였다. Ⅲ장에서는 철환과 철판의 제작 및 부위별 연결 방법 분석 등 갑옷을 제작하는 데 필요한 제작기법을 이해하기 쉽게 모식도로 표현하였다. Ⅳ장에서는 실제로 필자가 정지장군 갑옷의 복원품을 제작하고, 그 과정과 유물에 적용된 복원 기술들을 서술하였다. 경번갑은 우리나라에서 그 수가 현저히 적어 기초자료가 부족하나, 갑옷의 제작 시기가 명확하고 유물의 상태가 비교적 잘 남아있다는 점이 갑주의 원형 복원 연구에 있어 완성도를 높이는 요인으로 작용하였다. 필자는 이 논고가 앞으로 우리나라 고대 철제 무구류 연구 및 갑주 문화유산 관련 사업 등에 활용되기를 기대한다.

영문 초록

The armor worn by General Jeong Ji is said to have been worn by General Jeong Ji in the past when he defeated the Japanese warriors. It is the only armor from the Goryeo Dynasty in Korea, and it is a plated mail that is highly valued as a cultural heritage artifact. The armor worn by General Jeong Ji is a precious relic that has been protected by its descendants for hundreds of years through major and minor wars, and was designated as Treasure No. 336 in 1963 in recognition of its cultural heritage value. In Chapter Ⅱ of this thesis, the form and structure of the armor worn by General Jeong Ji were analyzed to understand the function of the armor and its production technology. In chapter Ⅲ, The production techniques required to make the armor, such as the production of iron rings and iron plates, and the analysis of the joining method of each part, are presented in a schematic diagram for easy understanding. In Chapter IV, the researcher actually restored the armor worn by General Jeong Ji and described the process and restoration techniques applied to the artifact. The number of such armors in Korea is very small, so primary data is lacking. The owner of the armor is clear, and the condition of the artifact is relatively well preserved. It is hoped that this paper will be used for future research on ancient iron armor in Korea and related armor cultural heritage projects.
