국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 회화적 행위를 인간과 물질 사이의 분리된 경계가 아닌, 물질 일원론적 관점에서 살펴보며, 이를 통해 회화적 행위와 표현의 가능성을 고찰하는 것이다. 연구 방법으로는, 연구자가 2019년부터 2022년까지 제작한 회화 연작을 중심으로 신유물론의 생기적 물질성, 물질의 자기 조직화와 창발성, 물질-현상론과 내부-작용 개념 등을 활용한 분석을 제안한다. 연구자는 회화적 수행과 물질적 생성을 동등한 것으로 보고, 신유물론에서 제시하는 물질 개념에 초점을 맞춘다. 작품의 창작 과정에서 예술가, 도구, 재료, 시간, 공간 등 모든 요소가 물질적 전회를 통해 결합하여, 이러한 과정을 통해 작품이 생성된다. 이 연구는 창작 행위를 물질적 생성으로 이해하며, 이에 신체, 정신, 의식, 감각 등 물리적 및 비물질적 요소를 포함한다. 또한, 물질 간의 상호작용을 강조하며, 이를 통해 물질적 창조의 사건을 이해하고자 한다. 이 연구는 인간의 경험에 국한되지 않고, 물질적 차원에서 회화의 형태와 표현의 가능성을 살펴본다. 이를 통해 물질이 고정된 상태가 아니라 지속적으로 변화하는 수행성을 가지며, 회화적 수행 역시 물질적 차원에서 지속적인 생성의 과정에 놓여있다는 것에 주목한다. 연구자는 이런 시각을 통해 예술의 제작과 감상이 지속적으로 변화하는 유동적 상태로 이해되며, 이를 바탕으로 회화의 범주를 확장할 것이라고 강조한다. 즉, 이 연구는 물질 일원론적 관점에서 회화적 행위와 표현의 가능성을 탐구하며, 물질 간 상호작용을 중심에 두고 분석한다. 이렇게 함으로써 물질적 차원에서의 회화적 수행의 가능성을 제안할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the painterly act not as a separated boundary between humans and materials, but through a material monistic perspective, and to examine the possibilities of painterly actions and expressions through a material monistic approach. The research method involves analyzing a series of paintings produced by the researcher between 2019 and 2022, focusing on vital materiality in new materialism, material self-organization and emergence, and material-phenomenon and intra-action concepts to provide a philosophical basis. The researcher considers painterly performance and material creation as equal and focuses on the material concept presented in new materialism. In the process of creating a work, all elements such as the artist, tools, materials, time, and space are formed through material exchanges, and the work is created through this process. This research understands the creative act as material creation, which includes physical and non-material elements such as body, mind, consciousness, and sensation. Moreover, it emphasizes the interaction between materials and seeks to understand the event of material creation through it. This study examines the possibilities of forms and expressions of painting not limited to human experience but in the material dimension. Through this perspective, the researcher emphasizes that the production and appreciation of art are understood as a continuously changing fluid state, and on this basis, the category of painting will be expanded. In other words, this study explores the possibilities of painterly actions and expressions from a material monistic perspective, focusing on the analysis of interactions between materials. By doing so, it can propose the possibility of painterly performance in the material dimension.
