대학생들을 대상으로 한 한국판 다차원적 심리적 유연성 척도(K-MPFI) 타당화 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 다차원적 심리적 유연성 척도(MPFI)를 한국어로 번안하고 대학생들을 대상으로 신뢰도와 타당도를 확인해 한국어판 다차원적 심리적 유연성 척도(K-MPFI)를 개발하는 것이다. 영문으로 작성된 MPFI 질문들을 임상심리학 박사와 정신건강 전문의, 그리고 영어와 한국어에 능통한 연구자가 포함된 연구진에서 1차 번역을 실시하고 심리학을 전공하고 영어와 한국어 모두 능통한 외부 연구자가 원문을 참고하지 않고 영어로 역번역을 실시했다. 최종적으로 저자들의 논의를 고쳐 한국어판 MPFI(K-MPFI)문항 내용을 완성하였다. 신뢰도와 타당도 검증을 위해 대학생 총 458명을 표집하였다. 한국어로 번안된 K-MPFI 척도와 수렴타당도(한국판 수용-행동 질문지 제 2판, 인지적 유연성 척도) 및 동시타당도(우울증 선별도구, 범불안장애 선별도구, 한국판 정신적 웰빙 척도-단축형)를 측정하기 위한 설문을 실시하였다. 확인적 요인분석 결과, 원판 MPFI와 마찬가지로 2개의 상위 요인(전반적 심리적 유연성, 전반적 심리적 경직성)과 12개의 하위 요인(수용, 현재 자각, 맥락으로서의 자기, 탈융합, 가치, 전념행동, 경험적 회피, 지금 순간에 대한 접촉 부족, 내용으로서의 자기, 융합, 비활동성)이 도출되었다. K-MPFI의 전체 문항 및 하위 요인들은 높은 내적 신뢰도를 보였으며, 상관계수를 통해 확인한 수렴타당도와 동시타당도 또한 적합한 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 전반적 심리적 경직성의 하위 요인 중 하나인 경험적 회피의 경우 심리적 경직성의 다른 하위 요인들을 비롯해 타당도 검증을 위해 투입된 변인들과의 상관관계가 유의하지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 본 연구뿐만 아니라 기타 언어로의 타당화 연구에서도 유사하게 나타났다는 점은 의미가 있다. 경험적 회피의 개념에 대한 문화권의 차이를 비롯해 원판 MPFI의 경험적 회피 요인에 대한 문항 구성의 문제로 보여진다. 따라서 향후 추가적인 연구가 필요하다. 마지막으로, 본 연구의 제한점과 의의에 대해서 논하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to translate and validate the Multidimensional Psychological Flexibility Inventory (MPFI) into Korean, and develop a Korean version of the MPFI (K-MPFI) for use with university students. A team of this study, including a clinical psychology PhD, a mental health specialist, and researchers proficient in both English and Korean, conducted an initial translation of the English MPFI items. An external researcher who was proficient in both English and Korean and had expertise in psychology, conducted a back-translation of the Korean MPFI items into English without reference to the original version. The authors then discussed and finalized the content of the K-MPFI items. A total of 458 university students were recruited to assess the reliability and validity of the K-MPFI. A survey was administered that included the K-MPFI scale, as well as measures of convergent validity (Korean Acceptance and Action Questionnaire II, Cognitive Flexibility Scale) and concurrent validity (PHQ-9, GAD-7, Korean-Mental Helath Continuum- Short-form). Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that, like the original MPFI, the K-MPFI consisted of two higher-order factors (Global psychological flexibility and inflexibility) and 12 lower-order processes (acceptance, present moment awareness, self-as-context, defusion, values, committed action, experiential avoidance, lack of contact with the present moment, self-as-content, fusion, and inactivity). The K-MPFI and its lower-order factors showed high internal consistency, and the measures of convergent and concurrent validity were also appropriate. However, one of the lower-order processes of psychological inflexibility, experiential avoidance, did not show significant correlations with the other lower-order processes or with the validation measures, which may be due to cultural differences in the concept of experiential avoidance or issues with the item construction of the experiential avoidance factor in the original MPFI. Further research is needed to address these issues. Finally, the limitations and implications of the study were discussed.
