토픽모델링을 활용한 대학 글쓰기 교육 연구 동향 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 2000년부터 2022년까지 대학 글쓰기 교육과 관련된 연구논문 1,091편의 국문 초록을 텍스트마이닝 기법을 적용해 분석하여, 대학 글쓰기 교육 연구의 동향을 규명하였다. 첫째, 대학 글쓰기 관련 연구논문의 양적 변화 추이를 분석한 결과, 2008년부터 본격적으로 관련 연구가 생산되기 시작한 이후, 2014년에 급증하였고, 2019년에 정점을 찍은 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 대학 글쓰기 교육 연구에서 나타난 주요 키워드를 TF-IDF 기반으로 분석한 결과, ‘자기, 과정, 능력, 평가, 내용, 방법, 첨삭’ 등과 같은 단어가 높은 순위를 차지하고 있었다. 그리고 상위 100위까지의 키워드를 워드클라우드를 통해 시각화하였는데, ‘토론, 자기소개서, 과제, 동료, 장르, 연계, 온라인’ 등과 같은 키워드 등이 나타나고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로, 대학 글쓰기 교육의 주요 토픽을 분석하기 위해, LDA 알고리즘을 이용한 토픽모델링 기법을 적용하였고, 총 10개의 토픽을 추출할 수 있었다. 분류된 주요 키워드와 각 논문의 국문 초록 또는 원문을 읽고 추출된 토픽의 주제명을 선정하였다. 그 결과, Topic 1은 ‘실용적 글쓰기’, Topic 2는 ‘자아 성찰적 글쓰기’로 명명하였다. Topic 2는 전체 토픽 중에서 가장 높은 비율을 차지하고 있었다. 그리고 Topic 3은 ‘계열별 글쓰기’, Topic 4는 ‘치유적 글쓰기’라는 토픽명을 선정하였다. Topic 4는 가장 낮은 비율을 차지하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. Topic 5는 ‘글쓰기 능력’, Topic 6은 ‘글쓰기 교육 방식’, Topic 7은 ‘글쓰기 교재 및 활동’이라고 명명하였다. 그리고 Topic 8은 ‘글쓰기 표현’, Topic 9는 ‘글쓰기 평가’, 마지막 Topic 10은 ‘글쓰기센터 운영과 교과 및 프로그램 개발’이라고 분석하였다. 본 연구는 대학 글쓰기 교육과 관련된 연구 동향을 전통 범주 분류 방식에서 벗어나 확률 통계 알고리즘을 이용하여 객관적인 분류를 시도하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends in research on college writing education using text mining techniques. First, the amount of research on college writing education was analyzed by year. According to the analysis, research on college writing education began in 2008, and increased sharply in 2014, peaking in 2019. Second, TF-IDF based analyses of key words from college writing educational research revealed that words such as ‘self, process, ability, assessment, content, method, and correction’ were highly ranked. And the keywords up to the top 100 were visualized through word cloud, it was confirmed that keywords such as 'debate, self-introduction letter, task, peer, genre, connection, online' appeared. Finally, the collected data was analyzed using topic modeling and a total of 10 topics were extracted. The topic names were selected by reading the main keywords of the topic and the Korean abstract or full text of each paper. Topic 1 was named ‘Practical Writing’ and Topic 2 was named ‘Self-reflective Writing’. And Topic 2 had the highest proportion among all topics. Topic 3 was named ‘Writing by Department’ and Topic 4 was named ‘Therapeutic Writing’. And Topic 4 had the lowest percentage. Topic 5 was categorized as ‘Writing Ability’, Top 6 as ‘Writing Education Method’ and Top 7 as ‘Writing Materials and Activities’. And Topic 8 is ‘Writing Expression’, Topic 9 is ‘Writing Assessment’, and finally Topic 10 is ‘Operation of Writing Center and Development of Curriculum and Programs’. This study is significant in that it attempts to objectively classify research trends related to college writing education using probability statistical algorithms rather than the traditional categorical classification method.
