BK21 사업단의 연구 성과물에 대한 서울과 지방대학 비교 분석

국문 초록

이 연구는 학술 데이터베이스(WoS)를 활용해 서울과 지방에 소재한 대학의 연구 경향성과 특징을 비교 분석하였다. 분석 대상은 두뇌한국21(BK21) 사업단의 연구 성과물로 설정하였다. 구체적으로 논문 제목에 대한 의미망(semantic networks)과 공저자(co-authorship) 연결망 분석, 공동연구에 대한 서울과 지방대학의 연구 영향력 차이 통계적 검정, 공저자 연결망에 대한 ERGM 분석이다. 그 결과, 서울 소재 대학의 논문 제목 의미망에는 의·약학 분야와 화학과 제어 분야 빅(big) 클러스터 2개가 나타났고, 지방대학의 경우 서울과 달리 빅 클러스터가 나타나지 않았지만 통신 분야의 기술 테스트와 동물 실험의 절차와 결과와 관련된 지식 활동이 돋보였다. 공저자연결망을 살펴보면 서울과 지방 모두 서울대학교가 가장 강한 연결성을 지녔다. 서울 소재 대학과 지방대학의 논문 한 편당 인용 횟수 t-검정 결과, 두 집단의 평균에는 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났고 서울 소재 대학의 인용 횟수 평균이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 ERGM(Exponential Random Graph Model)결과, 서울과 지방 공저자 연결망 모두 전이성(transitivity)은 양수, gwdegree(graph weighted degree) 값은 음수로 나타났다. 이 연구를 통해 서울과 지방 간 지식의 영향력 차이와 해당 권역의 지식 담론을 살펴볼 수 있다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Using data from Web of Science (WoS)-indexed publications funded by the BK21 program, a comparison was made between Seoul and the other provincial regions in South Korea. The current study looked specifically at differences in research publications based on semantic and co-authorship networks using titles and institutional affiliations. As a result, large clusters in the semantic network in Seoul-area universities appeared in the fields of medicine and pharmacy, as well as chemistry and control. Large clusters did not emerge in local universities, unlike in the Seoul area, but knowledge activities related to the methods and outcomes of technological testing in the telecommunications industry stood out. Looking at the networks of the co-authors, Seoul National University has the most connections in both Seoul and the other provincial areas. The t-test revealed a significant difference in the average number of citations per paper between Seoul universities and local universities, with Seoul universities having a high average number of citations. Finally, the ERGM (Exponential Random Graph Model) shows that the transitivity of the regional co-author network is positive, as is the transitivity of the Seoul co-author network, whereas the gwdegree (graph weighted degree) value is negative. This study is significant because it compares intellectual discourse and knowledge influences in the Seoul area and at local universities.
