한국과 일본의 초등학교 수학 교과서에 제시된 분수 곱셈에 관한 비교 분석: 양적 추론을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 논문은 내용 특화적인 분석틀을 기반으로 한국과 일본 수학 교과서의 분수의 곱셈 단원을 분석하였는데, 구체적으로 분수 곱셈의 의미 및 시각적 표현과 함께 지시 단위가 있는 양에 초점을 맞추어 탐색하였다. 분석 결과, 두 나라의 교과서는 주요 주제를 제시하는 데 있어서 유사한 측면이 있었지만, 여러 가지 주목할 만한 차이가 나타났다. 한국 교과서는 분수의 곱셈 상황을 다양한 의미로 제시하는 반면에 일본 교과서는 주로 scaling의 의미를 강조했다. 또한 한국 교과서에서는 양의 지시 단위가 암묵적으로 드러나는 반면에 일본 교과서에서는 명시적으로 드러났다. 한국 교과서에서는 시각적 표현을 주로 분수 곱셈의 결과를 나타내기 위해 체계적으로 사용하는 반면에 일본 교과서에서는 다양한 표현을 사용하여 분수 곱셈의 알고리즘을 설명하였다. 본 연구는 이러한 차이점을 바탕으로 수학 교육 연구자, 교육과정 개발자, 그리고 교사에게 분수 곱셈의 교수ㆍ학습에 대한 구체적인 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study explored fraction multiplication of Korean and Japanese elementary mathematics textbook series based on a content-specific analytic framework that put an emphasis on quantities with referent units along with the meanings of fraction multiplication and visual representations. The results of this study illuminated noticeable differences in the textbooks, even though they were similar in addressing the main topics. Whereas multiple meanings of fraction multiplication were presented in the Korean textbook, the meaning of scaling was mainly emphasized in the Japanese textbooks. Whereas quantities with referent units were explicit in the Japanese textbook, those were implicit in the Korean counterpart. Whereas a visual representation was systematically employed in the Korean textbook mainly to demonstrate the results of fraction multiplication, various representations were used in the Japanese textbook to explain the algorithms for fraction multiplication. Based on these differences emergent through the content-specific framework, this study provides mathematics education researchers, curriculum developers, and teachers with specific implications for teaching and learning of fraction multiplication.
