청소년의 공감적 반응 발화의 유형과 양상

국문 초록

목적：이 연구의 목적은 청소년의 고민 대화에서 공감적 반응 발화의 유형과 양상을 탐색하고 반응 발화의 유형에 따라 구분한 집단들의 공감 지수를 확인하여 교육적 시사점을 제시하는 것이다. 방법：고등학생 253명을 대상으로 친구의 고민 대화 영상을 보여 주고 이에 대한 반응 발화를 수집하여 분석하였다. 또한 6개의 구성 요인으로 이루어진 공감 척도를 사용하여 반응 발화 유형에 따른 집단별 차이를 분석하였다. 성별 차이 분석은 t검정, 집단별 차이는 분산분석을 사용하였다. 결과：자료 분석 결과 청소년들의 고민 대화에서 공감적 반응 발화가 드물며 공감을 저해하는 표현이 많음을 확인하였다. 반응 발화의 유형에서 성별 차이가 확인되었는데, 남성은 ‘말을 끊기, 다른 이야기 꺼내기’ 반응의 비중이 컸고, 여성은 ‘한술 더 뜨기’ 반응의 비중이 상대적으로 컸다. 반응 발화의 유형에 따라 집단으로 구분 지어 분석한 결과 ‘공감하기’가 포함된 집단이 다른 집단에 비해 모든 공감 구성 요인의 지수가 높았다. 결론：분석 결과를 바탕으로 ‘공감적 듣기’ 위주의 청자 중심 교육에서 화자와 청자를 모두 고려한 ‘공감적 의사소통’의 관점으로 전환해야 함을 주장하였다. 이와 더불어 공감적 반응 발화의 유형과 비공감적 반응 발화의 양상을 교육 내용으로 제공할 필요가 있음을 교육적 시사점으로 제언하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose：This study aims to investigate the types and patterns of empathic responding utterances in ‘troubles talk’ of adolescents. Methods：Troubles talk videos were shown to 253 high school students and their responding utterances were collected and analyzed. Furthermore, by using an empathy scale, the differences between groups were analyzed according to the responding utterance type. T-test and ANOVA was used for the difference between the groups. Results：It was confirmed that in the troubles talk of adolescents, empathic responding utterances are rare and there are many expressions that hinder the empathy. The difference between the genders was confirmed, and the proportion of “interfering with talking and talking about something else” responses were relatively high in males, and that of “the biter bit” in females. In the analysis of differences between groups, the group that included “being empathic” had high empathy index in every empathy component. Conclusion：The following educational implications are recommended：the “empathic listening”-oriented listener-centric education should be changed in the perspective of “empathic communication” that considers both the speaker and listener; suitable types of empathic responding utterances should be provided in educational contents.
