초등 예비교사의 국어교육에 대한 경험 및 인식 탐구

국문 초록

이 연구는 최근에 교육대학에 입학한 학생들이 국어교육과 관련하여 어떤 지식과신념을 갖고 있는지 살피는 데 그 목적이 있다. 연구 참여자는 2021년 2학기 A교육대학에서 국어교육 관련 강의를 수강한 153명의 2학년 학생들이다. 강의 2-3주차에 ‘국어교육에 대한 경험’이나 ‘바람직한 국어교육의 방향’(혹은 제시 가능)에 대하여2쪽 분량이 자전적 에세이(autobiography)를 작성하는 과제를 제시하고 수합하였으며, 에세이에 대한 빈도 분석 및 내용분석을 수행하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학생들의 국어교육 경험에 대한 인식은 ‘국어 수업 및 교과에 대한 인식’, ‘자신의국어 효능감에 대한 인식’ 및 ‘기타’로 나타났다. 중등 예비 국어 교사에게서 보이는국어에 대한 선호와는 달리 초등 예비교사들의 국어교육 및 국어에 대한 인식과 선호는 다양하게 나타났다. 또한 초등 예비교사들은 국어 수업 전반에 대한 부정적 인식이 높았으나, 좋은 국어 수업 사례에 대한 경험을 떠올리는 학생도 적지 않았다. 둘째, 초등 예비교사들은 바람직한 국어교육 방향에 대한 인식으로 ‘학생 및 활동 중심 수업’, ‘필요성및 실용성을 갖춘 교육’, ‘역량을 함양하는 교육’, ’영역별/영역간 국어교육의 특성 반영한 수업 실천’으로 나타났다. 특히 학생 중심 교육, 활동 중심 교육, 흥미와 자발성 등이 강조되었다는 점이 주목할 만하다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 바탕으로 교육의 시사점 및 초등 국어교육 교원 양성과정의 개선점에 대한 논의를 제시하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge and beliefs of pre-service teachers who recently joined “J” University of Education regarding Korean language education. Participants in this study were 153 sophomore students who took lectures on the Curriculum of the Elementary Korean language at the university in the second semester of 2021. In weeks 2-3 of the course, participants were asked to write a two-page autograph essay on “Experience in Korean language education” or “Direction of desirable Korean language education,” or both. Then, frequency and content analysis of the essays were performed. The results of the study are as follows. First, students perception of Korean language education experience was “perception of Korean language classes and subjects,” “perception of Korean language self-efficacy,” and “other.” First, the pre-service teachers at the elementary level had diverse perceptions regarding Korean language classes. n addition, pre-service elementary school teachers had a high negative perception toward the overall Korean language class, but some students recalled having positive experiences during the course. Second, pre-service elementary school teachers were found to prefer “student-centered and activity-oriented classes,” “education which is necessary and practical,” “education to cultivate competence,” and “practice reflecting the characteristics of Korean language.” In particular, education which is student-centered, activity-oriented, interesting, and spontaneous was emphasized. Based on the results, implications of education and improvement measures of the elementary Korean language education teacher training course were discussed.
